I’m in the final stages of my order. I’ve had some frustrating emails back and forth over an “option” I’m being told is mandatory. I know some options are linked (select steel bumper, get LED lighting required), but I don’t see Remote Proximity locks being linked to anything other than push to start (as a precondition).

Several local Rubicons do not have this option and it’s not something I want after having them fail on my Ram. Wouldn’t mind spending that $500 on something else too.

Anyone else experience this lately?

This has been ‘required’ for while now, atleast since February. It is frustrating and there are others that folks have brought up over time including hart top, hard top headliner, slush mats, Trail cam if 8.4” purchased, etc that have been required by FCA at one time or another.

Thanks guys. Right now the M/T tires are also required - supply/demand issue. They can't order anything else at this time.

If proximity locks are required, good thing it is something I wanted. :) Some of it may be due to supply issues - as in what they have is 8.4 screen with camera as a package - it's already bundled that way in the box. Since so many factories have been shut down, they may not have some things as separate items - thus requiring you take the whole package.

Their order process is so strange. I got mine in right before they started requiring strange things. At one point all the safety crap was required for Rubicons.

The proximity is a feature they really shouldn't be forcing given how half assed they implemented it. Like $500 and it doesn't even include the tailgate as part of it.

Sucks you are stuck with the MTs as well. My dad's JK came with those, switched to ATs when he needed new tires and it was such a difference on road.

Honestly from what I have seen people report situation could get better or worse in a week, but that proximity thing hasn't budged in forever.

I love the proximity locks. I ordered mine in Dec, and yeah, it was mandatory. I have never used the buttons on my fob, though. Took off the advanced safety group, didn’t need THAT much tech. Very happy with it all

I love the proximity locks...
Agreed. That is one of the most popular options people wish they had gotten. Much rather have that than the M/T tires or most others.
