We've had a cold snap here in the SE this week and my remote start isn't working. The lights flash, and it attempts to start for about a half second and then nothing. It starts just fine normally. Battery shows 14+ once running. Is the Aux battery responsible for the remote start? Thoughts?

Are you low on gas? There's a gas cut off. Just thought I'd ask

No, it's not. If it button starts from inside, it's not a battery issue, however, a few stored codes can lead to remote starts not working.

The 14+ only means the SYSTEM voltage is at that level, that's nothing to do with battery voltage. To get battery voltage, you have to scroll to that display with the engine off - or use a volt meter with the engine off.

Dang, I don't have my remote start troubleshooting list out here in my shop - somewhere I have a pdf of that stuff - things it looks for or reasons it might abort.

Like suggested, check fuel level, is the hood closed? Doors latched so they can lock?

Too bad you don't have something like JSCAN or AlfaOBD as they can display the dates and times of start cycles, including remote starts, and reasons for failures, etc.

There may be enough in the battery to start it if you get in and hit the button, but if the voltage drops below a certain level the remote start won't work. It could be a result of one or both batteries failing. I ran into that this week.

Didja do the "free hack" to disable the start/stop by disconnecting the hood switch?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I had a little over 1/8 tank at the time. The gas light was not on, but I rarely let it go below 1/2 tank. I’m guessing the gas level was too low. As it worked fine after fill up.

What’s strange is, per the owners manual, if the gas level is too low, it should start, then turn off after 10 seconds.

Well, I was mistaken. No remote start this morning on full tank. Slow to start while in the Jeep. Shows 11.5 on battery voltage prior to start. Once started, I get this light.

that's the security system light. It should flash fast for a bit when arming, and then slow when armed. It should arm when you do the remote start. If it can NOT arm, the remote start will not work.

If you look at the list I posted above, low battery voltage will also prevent the remote start from working. Sounds like you may have a battery/charging system issue judging by the voltage you indicated.

I’m convinced it’s the battery at this point, as it was very slow to start this morning. Looking into replacing the battery, and deleting the aux battery. Anyone deleted the aux battery?

Update. Took the battery in to be tested. Only producing 400 CCA. New primary battery installed. $250 later, all good.
This same thing just happened to me. Truck is a little over 2 years old with 26,000 miles. Where was yours when this happened? Did it ever return after replacing the battery? I wouldn’t think the battery would go that quick. Also, how are a lot of people getting batteries replaced under warranty?
