Has anyone installed one of these? I’m only using it to keep my main battery/aux. battery charged while the truck sits. It says to mount it vertically. Has anyone mounted it flat to the fuse box cover or air box cover?

Haven't used that one in particular. But the 30amp version (Wanderer, I believe) is in the tongue box of all of our off-road trailers. Mounted in every way imaginable depending on the specific application. I can't recall ever having to replace one in the last decade.

Cool. Thanks! Yeah I’m only running a 50w solar panel through it so I think it’ll be fine mounted on the flat. I mainly went with this one because it says it’s waterproof.

+1 don’t think the mounting position will matter, esp at such low power levels. I have a victron mounted flat and it’s been solid through every imaginable heat and rough terrain situation imaginable

Curious - Electronics - what about it would matter as far as mounting position?
Even relays can be mounted in any position.

Cooling fibs on back perhaps to get proper airflow is only thing I can think and at that low power can’t see that. My Zamp controller is potted and waterproof not heat sink of any type and 10 amps….Jack

Makes perfect sense if that's the case.

the only potential thing I can think of is cooling, but it’s a stretch

You could mount it on spacers and give it perhaps 1/2” clearance under it to let sir flow around it and heat to escape. Spacers could be as simple as perhaps two nuts stacked….Jack

The only reason it says to mount vertically in the instructions that I can think is maybe for the heat to dissipate? Other than that I can’t think of another reason.
