I really like the fact that this tire carrier is easily removed if needed. It also offers full access to bed and tail gate. Has attachable mole, tables, etc. Can hold 40 inch tire and is over all pretty light. Would have to relocate camera and license plate but that's required on any tire carrier.

Downsides? Thoughts?

I have been looking at this and it seems to be the best option if you want a tire carrier without replacing the bumper. If I were to get an extension fuel tank for the spare tire location (when/if available), this would probably be the way I go. My biggest concern may be the garage fitment. Thx

I'm liking this for long camping trips. I would have to move items around for garage fitment, but would also have the option to remove for daily driving. Seems to be the best hitch carrier option.

Bumping this post back up to see if anyone's gone this route. I just missed out on a Wilco offset that I found on Facebook Marketplace. After doing some more digging it seems like the RIGd gets better reviews. Any feedback/ pics / real world experience would be appreciated

Digging up an old Thread, but....... did you end up going with the RIGd carrier? If so how do you like it? Be awesome to see some photos of it in action and how it affects departure angle and what not.

Reviving this after 3 years :)

I recently got a RiG'd UltraSwing Mega-Fit carrier. Truth be told, I've always shunned away from a hitch mounted solution vs a fully integrated steel bumper with tire swing out... BUT I feel like RiG'd has really refined this swingout carrier and now the benefits of a modular/removable system are more suitable for me.

Here's why it works for me (and maybe you)
1) Weight = I chose the largest Ultraswing (Mega-Fit) and it weighs in at 79lb; the Multi-Fit version is more designed for mid-sized trucks and can carry a max 37" and weighs 65lb. Most aftermarket steel bumper (without receiver) start @ 120lb and move up from there when adding the tire swing piece.

For some comparison examples...
a. Evo High N Tight receiver bumper (67lb) + RiG'd Mega-Fit (79lb) = 146lb total (my setup)
b. Relentless Fabrication high clearance receiver bumper (120lb) + tire carrier (80lb) = 200lb total
c. Expedition One Trail Series w/ S3 Carrier System (180lb) + OEM receiver (~60lb) = 240lb total
d. JCR Vanguard bumper (120lb) + one-side Adventure Carrier Swing-out (40lb) + OEM receiver (~60lb) = 220lb total

2) Cost = The RiG'd Mega-Fit ($1649) + Evo High N Tight receiver bumper ($945) = $2594 is right on-par with the other brands listed above that range from $2400-$2700

3) RiG'd Mega-Fit can accommodate up to a 40" tire and is Tow Rated Class IV

4) RiG'd Ultraswing tire carriers incorporate an integrated receiver in the swingout portion for bike racks, which eliminates a need to purchase an additional swingout for hitch mounted bike carriers.

5) RiG'd Ultraswing can follow me from build to build or come off completely if the need arises. Big plus to have something that I can transfer to another vehicle... even if it's a friend's rig.

I only have a few pics right now of the very initial install but I'm really impressed with the build quality and aesthetics of the RiG'd!

I just got the JCR. Looking at the bumper, the hidden hitch portion is welded to the bumper and mounts in same holes and place as the stock hitch bar. JCR never paid to certify it but it looks very sturdy and JCR has even stated they do tow with it, but of course can’t “legally” recommend doing so as it’s not certified.

The worst part of trying to get the gladiator through any difficult obstacle is the breakover angle. This makes it 10x worse. Most 37s fit underneath just fine. My 37x12.50r17 kanati mud hog isn't even a tight fit.

Unless your running 40s
Unless you're running 40s to look good at the mall, the tire carrier still kills departure angle. Your rig would be more capable on 37s or 38s with the tire underneath. If it's just for the mall I'd just leave the spare at home, odds are you aren't cutting a side wall on the side walk. I'd go bed mounted spare before this contraption but I guess it works for some.

I mean, that whole mall crawler thing is the same as people with politics. If you don’t like something, they must be a mall crawler. I’ll just go back in my hole and play in the parking lot I guess.

What's the point of lifts and bigger tires outside of looks at the mall? Clearance. Throwing a giant contraption off the receiver hitch is removing clearance. That's counterproductive. Sure if you aren't ever going to run any kind of actual obstacles it doesn't matter, but then you didn't need the 40s for overlanding on fire roads with the Subarus. If it works fit you, go for it. Maybe you want your gladiator to appear capable (this the lift and tires) but don't abusing need the ground clearance? In that instance the hitch tire carrier makes sense.

My problem would be lifting a 100 plus pound tire on and off the carrier along with the lost departure clearance. Not to mention the added stress on the weak area of the frame
