Jeep Gladiator Rock Trix Custom Jeep Center Caps 1000005203

I'm not a fan of RT's wheel center cap logos. Looked for other options to no avail. I then watched a video shared on the JL Forum for making custom center caps for Rock Trix wheels. They apparently have a unique size and finding a Jeep cap to fit is out of the question. In the video, which was shared by the OP of his process on modifying them, he found center by using a pencil compass, drilled a small pilot hole in the caps and then used a hole saw for the diameter of the Jeep center caps (approx 64mm). In previous iterations they did NOT have a hole in the center like the ones I received. The sticker decals were very easy to remove, however, by just pushing them through from the other side. But, now I don't have a center bore to work with to use a hole saw. I have a drill press, but not sure I will find a conical drill bit 2"+ in diameter for a price worthy of this simple project. Any tips on this?

I was thinking about doing the same but don't have the time right now.
I like the RT109 wheels but rather have the Jeep logo.
Buy an extra cap and experiment with it.

Or, a piece of heavy rubber tubing with the OD of your hole and 1/4" ID for pilot bit and use your hole saw.
That's ingenuitive as well. I may try that also. My concern with a conical step bit is the pressure I may need on the center cap at low speeds on the drill press; and if the cutting edge on one of those steps catches just right, I fear it'll crack it. I do have the extra cap since I bought all 5 wheels, so I have a little room for error.

I have Rock Trix wheels as well. Would love to change the center caps. Please let us know the final product writeup on this.

Custom decals might be a very easy solution.

Another thought just hit me.

If you can access a drill bit set that works in an impact quick connect, that can be used in the holesaw arbor. Just have to make sure the set has the bit size you need.

Thanks, I'll have to look into that also. I didn't do any measurements just yet, but I think the center hole is around 3/4" dia. I haven't used anything that big in the drill press yet, so I'm not sure if it will fit unless the shank is reduced.

People Work?
Seems like the path of least resistance to me, but I don’t have a cap in my hand to really be sure.
It's in the video in the linked thread . Peels right off.
Dude also drilled it out with a hole saw while holding it with his bare hands. That's a good way to end up in the ER.
