Several months back I was finding small droppings on top of my battery and would vacuum it out only to find more the next week. I set mouse traps and would find them tripped but no payoff. One day I started to open my hood and heard rustling inside so I fetched my .25 cal pellet gun.

I opened my hood slowly and was face to face with Mr. Squirrel. He ran around the engine compartment and ran down a front shock then stopped and looked back at me where I was able to dispatch him at point blank range. I must admit that was very satisfying and even though he dead I wanted to shoot him again.

It certainly looks as if these two mean business when it comes to rodents! ?
.
Can't speak for these days, they are both 12 as of this month, but 8 years ago, they could leap 6' straight up in the air.
Tonks are a recognized breed resulting from Siamese and Burmese. Siamese used to be reserved for royalty and used as guardians of things of value. They are fiercely protective of what they think is theirs.
Not aloof, they love interaction with "their humans". Ignore them at your own peril.
They can get quite serious now and then with facial expressions at times that might make some take a step back.

This kinda damage is really crappy and expensive. But, PSA poison and stickey traps are really bad to use. Poison is bad due to bioaccumulation. Look it up. Basically here is an example - a rodent eats poison and dies, a bird then eats said rodent and gets poison in its system but not enough to kill it. But it does this 4 more times and now has 5 times the poison killing it. Then a coyote comes along and eats said bird. This continues. And is the reason led shot shells are banned in many places.

Also, it is a very painful death. Imagine someone poisoning your food….

just because you kill 100 of em doesnt mean they wont reproduce and continue to come back. Consider alternate methods Of discouragement.
Glad I don’t eat coyotes.☠

They are probably tough and grisly anyway.
Besides, they help keep the bunny population down around here.
Not to mention they carry parasites and more diseases. Same with bears - I personally don't care for the taste of bear. Now antelope is some really good stuff!

In 90 I got to spend 14 months deployed when I got home I found mice had eaten a plug in the fire wall on my 85 F150 chewed up the owners manual in the glove box and made a nest. Never found any other damage. My wife had a 13 Wrangler that they were attracted to the engine cover. Chewed holes in it never touched the wiring.

Bear is greasy to me. Makes good jerky tho. Antelope, elk, and oryx is very good.

Kill the little bastards. When you have to spend a thousand dollars to get your vehicle repaired. You don't care how they died. That they are just dead. Had a furry bastard chew though a vent line on my Grand Cherokee. Had to drop the fuel tank to fix it.
Wow. When keeping it real might goes wrong ?

Bear takes a long time to dry for jerky. I just did some pork loin jerky last week. Elk jerky is the best.
Been long time since I had squirrel stew. Got to kill more than a half dozen to make a good size pot.

If you carry comprehensive then file a claim. I’d imagine the repair bill will be bigger than your deductible? Just depends on how low of a deductible you carry. We have a lot of falling trees and branches so carry it religiously.

.22 Gamo pellet rifle sits at our rear slider. Inert Gas Ram. 1000 feet per second. Ground squirrels eat our food growing and burrow into our hill...causing slides. Massively destructive assholes. We kill the rabbits too...they eat our food. The hell with them all. Scope cost more than the rifle. It's sighted at 20 yards. Deadeye.Deadly.

For the home audio inclined that's a 2006 SVS PB12 Plus/2.

Gamo makes a great varmint rifle. Italian made and reliable. Purge my property every year to head off problems. I use a barrel of water too but prefer the lethal approach to minimize any suffering. They can destroy a pontoon boat!

When I worked at Elliott on 3rd shift. We used to have a family of racoons walk through the shop at night checking out the garage cans. They walked in like they owned the place. People moving around, the sounds of the shop, equipment moving didn't bother them at all.
