I am (finally) getting a Rotopax fuel setup. I have heard some rumblings and reviews that the Locking Mount from Rotopax is not worthwhile. Issues with it failing or not working, etc. so I am trying to figure out if that is just nay-sayers or valid. I am thinking of using the DLX, reviews seem to indicate it holds the rotopax on more solidly when off-roading.

Do most of you use the regular or DLX mount or do you use the locking mount?

Any other recommendations?
I need to get my rig setup for a trip in April where I think I may need the extra fuel.
TIA

My $0.02 on the mounts since I've been running Rotopax for the past 6 years. If you plan on taking them on and off consistently go with the DLX. They are significantly easier to loosen and you can really crank the cans down (not that you should). The standard mount "lever" can get very stuck when the cans expand in the sun.

The locking mount does not actually work with the extension bracket as you can simply spin the outer can right off. Otherwise it works fine with (1) can.

If you use the locking kind be sure to keep them lubed. I live in a moderate temp/no snow area and mine seized up. Had to drill the lock out.

Yeah, my internal battle is with taking them off while out of town...will I do it, will I remember to do it, will it become annoying, so I stop doing it.
I currently plan to only have one Rotopax for fuel and not need the extension bracket so that won't be a concern.
Maybe the locking mount is worthwhile for me - it sounds like it is fine if I lube it often enough. Then I don't have to deal with my habits haha.

I use 4 locking units for 3 years. I've lubed them once a year and have never had a problem with them. I've used them with the standard mounts and the extended ones.

I much prefer the locking units just because they lock.

My experience is only with the DLX, they do work as advertised, do back off or rattle, by the same token I do have the cans mounted where they are out of sight out of mind
