If you think you want it , you will be thrilled with it, take it and just put it on if he had the trail rails and you haver them great, if not both the same , when I got mine there were extra bottom clamps for either way trail rail or just clamping the bed cap, I've had mine for a long time and am thrilled with how useful it is, also RSI is pretty good at helping out, gasket should be ok to just put it back on, the reason a lot of us pushed the cap farther front is because of tailgate design with that slope, just put it on then adjust it until your happy. God luck......Jack

I'd like to allow someone else with the T-slot system to chime in. However, as for the RSI Smartcap installation, it was pretty straightforward and not that difficult as long as you have plenty of hands to help.

Once you put the RSI on, guarantee you’ll love it! It’s extremely useful, and looks sharp! It took me a week or two to get used to, and I don’t regret it one bit!

I've included a couple of pics and some advice I wish I would have known to help explain.

I would assume that you would probably need a new gasket to put under the cap to seal it, to be on the safe side.

The most challenging part (from my experience with the 115, AZ heat) was trying to get this corner of the cap and the gasket to stick. You will see that I tried my best to get this aligned, and for some reason, it was just a pain in the butt. Just take your time.

This is all preference, but some individuals install their Smartcaps like this, or put it back towards the rear seats a little bit more, but then you will notice that there is an angle that seeps into the gasket. We just preferred the edge since the water ran off smoothly, and no leaks.

I used to have the Mopar Roll Tri-Fold Cover and had the bed rails installed, where I removed that rail system. It was not your regular rail system that you could attach the Smartcap too, it was something different.

Depending on if you decide to clamp the smartcap down, you will have rubber gaskets to prevent damage from scratching the metal. I wanted to add some reassurance, so I went to Harbor Freight and purchased these 3in clamps and some weather stripping to help clamp it down a lil' extra.

Hope this can help a little bit!

Thanks so much for the detailed reply!! Appreciate it. I've been really happy with the tonneau with the vortex bars installed in the T Slot system. Have a bike rack and some fishing rod holders on them so I'm conflicted on the cap! People seem to love it and I would get a great deal on it... Need to look at how easy it is to remove the Bak Revolver tonneau.

Do you have to order the rsi from rsi or are there distributors? For my other truck, I was quoted 4K+ for a leer. Is rsi much more?

The RSI Smartcap is in the same price range. There are a lot of places you can get it from. Check out their website for a list of dealers, and see if they have a buy direct option. I always look at Sales Tax and Shipping Costs when deciding who to buy from.

Really wish I had gotten the solid sides....still waiting for SmartCap to allow us to buy replacement doors. Would love to swap one side to solid and mount boards to it. <anxious finger tapping>

Yeah I went round and round myself and ALMOST bought the sport/glass door model. Then I saw someone with a busted out door and decided to go with the EvoA. Glad I did, I use the interior molle panels on both doors now. That is really handy. I have fire extinguisher, first aid kit, air-down and air-up gear all on those molle panels inside the side doors. Loving it.

I went with no glass didn't want people looking in and glass breaks lol. Also the molle panels are nice. You should post on Facebook or local market to see if you can trade someone.

Hey all, just went with the Sport myself. I was curious if anyone has a good seal from cap to cab at the window? I'll have my dog in bed and was hoping to get some air back there on warmer days. Any good solutions for sealing between the windows?

I suspect you could do something DYI using AC neoprene insulating foam. You need something that is flexible since the bed/camper will move relative to the cab, i.e. the foam will compress/flex.

I have been eyeballing this : Amazon.com: Trailfx Trail FX 20000 Truck Boot : Automotive
I had one several years ago and it worked pretty well. Just hard to get enough cool air to flow all the way back there & the dogs kept coming through the window into the cab haha. So this time around I just keep the dogs in the back seat (almost always) now. I rigged up a platform for them back there & it is working well.
