A SmartCap install followed by picking crab... that sounds like a heck of a good day!!!! Just make sure you do not try and flip the cap over yourself. The guy that did that on the forum was a bit lucky he didn't damage the cap or the D gasket. Also, when you and 3 others put it on the back of the Gladiator, try not to slide it on the bed rails to protect the D gasket.
Updated from an hour ago, have sides and front on, all by myself not going bad, one photo shows the clamp I am using to hold it together , makes it alm eadily , starting the back now!......Jack
Even with a helper, I found a clamp or two sure helped things go smoothly.
Following up on this information: What do you guys rate them at? If they have a worthwhile weight capacity, that wouldn't be a bad place for some molle panels to keep some light things up and secured out of the way.
I have the table and it’s probably 25lbs. Maybe a little less. But I’d say you could easily bolt some kind of attic space up there or MOLLE panels easy.
Nice, thanks for the response. 25 pounds total is probably about what I'd put up there myself. I was just thinking it'd be a good spot for some extra straps and a flashlight or two.
The finished weight of the SmartCap EVO Sport Gladiator Edition is 211.18 lbs.
When we originally posted that it weighed around 170lbs, we had been given a general weight for a SmartCap EVO on a mid-size truck. Once production models were created for the Gladiator specifically, exact weights were determined and the cap came in at 211.18 lbs. As far as the comparison you are drawing between the two caps, all we can say is study the build quality of each of them.
I would also add there is serious value in it’s appearance. I’ve already had someone comment about keep”building them with campers” because it looks factory.
I just checked in with the factory on your question. It turns out I accidentally posted the packaged weight. The original estimation was correct. The actual unit weight is around 170 lbs.
