Looks great Bulldog, looks like you have it far enough front , how is the rear hatch smooth and easy to open. The waiting is a killer, I ordered in July 2020, and got it before Christmas , the 12th I think. Only a mere five months! Enjoy and if you have been reading the threads on the cap you probably had a much easier time then the guys in beginning of thread. Still thrilled with mine, too much work to get time to pkay with Mods but planning on setting it up to sleep overnight in......Jack

THX Jack, the Hatch opens easy and fits tight. The rubber on the hatch is so the tailgate is intended to be UP when hatch is closed and the reverse of course to open. DOGs go for a Ride Tomorrow!!

...yeah definitely a strange look.

curious if you've driven top-off with the smartcap, does it create any increased noise vs topless without smartcap?
It’s a little quieter actually. The wind stays high above the cab. Much nicer for the long-haired passengers.

First trip with everything setup and it was a success. Really happy with how the cap did overall. Super happy to finally have it installed and working.

Couple small things to sort out. The replacement rear lift gate door didn’t have the bottom rubber seal trimmed to the proper width. So I had cut that down a bit to get it to close properly, not that big of a deal. My seal does crap on the tailgate pretty bad still despite putting the extra blocks under the back. I’ve got some additional height units on the way to try and space it up a tad bit more.

I went with some @Front Runner load bars for the top. They were rock solid, no issues. But I now wish I’d just gone for one of their racks since I could use the QD RTT mounts. My poor knuckles still aren’t happy after the install/removal ;)

The Roofnest Condor was also great. We had an evening on the trip while camping in Rabbit Valley, overlooking the Colorado River, with winds gusting well over 40mph... despite a rough night sleeping, nothing bent or fabric torn. ? (Our 7 year old slept straight through the entire thing, go figure!)

Again, this cap is really so well thought out. I’m very glad to have gotten through the issues with damaged panels tonfinally have it installed and in use. Hopefully RSI can keep up with demand and get through the QC/Shipping damage hiccups, as I think we all want to see them be successful in the long term.

Couple of shots:

Any idea on gas mileage gain/loss with the cap? Cap and tent?

The aerodynamic loss seems to be minimal, just for the cap, but it does add an additional 170 pounds to the truck. Another 40 pounds for the roof rack, and 40 pounds if you add the stowaway table.

I have not really noticed much of a difference with the cap or even with the tent on top as well. I notice a little at times if its windy, especially with the tent, 2 bikes, and a bed full of gear, but honestly it still seems pretty minimal. Part of that is likely the fact that when I am loaded down like that I tend to do a lot of highway miles, so the mileage is better for that reason anyways.

Gas economy was not even on my radar though with buying a Jeep, then lifting it and adding bigger tires, so I don't really pay all that much attention most of the time :jk:

Anyone in here have the bin? I am still waiting on mine (9 months and counting). I want to install some drawers like the Decked or something more universal, but I don't want to install it without confirming the lowest point of the bin. Can someone measure theirs to tell me how much room is below the bin between the bed? TIA
I ordered the bin when I ordered my cap 11 months ago. Still waiting also. No ETA from the distributor. But I just got word my cross bars came in that I ordered a couple months ago.

My Evo Sport arrived and worth the wait. This cap is built like a tank and looks amazing. I ended up purchasing 7/8 inch rubber shims for the tailgate corners and used the supplied 13mm shims under the clamps and after slight compression from the clamps, the clearance with the rubber seals at the tailgate seems just about right.

Does anyone know what the nut size is on the top of the cap? Id like to use them to help lift the top off and on the truck. Perhaps bolt on a 2x4 with eye bolts on the sides to lift from.
Has anyone done something like this?
I need to take the truck in to get the hard top replaced this week. I'm going to remove the topper to make that easier.
Thanks
