Offroad Alliance and RSI have been open about the delays. That said I know you can track the status and location of imports. Other hobbies I've got updates their inventory is at customs, on train, etc.

We completely understand. As you are aware, based on your message, we are available at almost anytime of the day to answer your questions and reply to timeline issues. There is almost always a live person answering the phones, our website chat and emails. Although supply chain sounds like a feeble excuse, it’s actually legitimate. We can usually see when a container ship leaves port overseas. We can then track it across the sea and know when it gets to port. That’s when we are at a loss for information. Once the ships get to port we don’t know when they are unloaded or when the cargo is released from port. It’s not until the caps appear at our warehouses that we know what’s in. They are also released at various times so we never know which container is coming or what’s in it. It’s very difficult for us to predict anything so we’ve opted to not predict. This seems much more effective than predicting incorrectly. Your order can be cancelled at anytime for a full refund prior to shipment. These caps are always sold out so if cancel, you would lose your spot in the queue.@OffroadAlliance.com I have to say (in the most constructive manner) that you guys really should improve communications and estimates for delivery on SmartCaps.
I am not commenting on the amount of time it takes to receive a product from outside the country. We know it is taking a long time.
The point is why can't you do a better job of tracking shipments to orders and provide better & more frequent updates on the estimated time of arrival?
I mean you take payment and then say "supply chain" upon every inquiry. You should be able to provide more information directly to customers about their orders. Right now you provide NO information; I have never received a single email about my order status after the purchase...after 3 months of waiting. That is not good customer service IMO. Even an email that is vague shows you are trying. Why radio silence?
I hope you take this in a positive way, because I want to support our forum supporters.
Rick from rsi told me the same thing! Pretty sure it’s a factory in Texas.Hopefully this will all be in the past. I spoke to RSI-US a couple of weeks ago and they said they are gearing up to produce the cap in the US.
That will be great.
Indeed it is. Near DallasRick from rsi told me the same thing! Pretty sure it’s a factory in Texas.
So if they are gonna build them near Dallas, how about a price reduction since you won’t have to factor in the shipping cost of coming over seas now?Indeed it is. Near Dallas
I fall into both categories.Looking at different options and this seems to have a lot of good attributes if you get the unit. But, really, $4K? Is the value there as just a top? Is it more about the different options available? Or if just using as a top that doesn't rust (stainless does rust tho you just have to deal with it) and can seal the bed off is this the best way to go?
No offense, but all I've really read are a lot of issues that people have with shipping/packaging/and service. How about some real world "wow I'm glad I have it for this reason?" comments. Appreciate it.
Are the seals on your side windows holding up well to the elements? I have been going back in forth about the adventure vs sport. Saw a couple reviews that the seals weren’t the greatest. We have a dog so if we ever have to take her for a ride I would like as much flow as possible.I fall into both categories.
Packaging was bad. When I picked it up one of the boxes had a crushed corner. Off-road Alliance let me swap that box with another.
But 2 things help to mitigate this.
1)My dealer was very very easy to work with. Off-road Alliance was great.
2)My top was missing a couple of minor parts and RSI was very very good about sending stuff out.
I had been told by others that their service was good and they weren't wrong.
But now that its on. I couldn't be happier. It is VERY well built. And its not just about it being heavy. Everything you touch. The latches, the way the side windows work is QUALITY.
I was considering a fiberglass topper and it only ended up being about $500 less once you figured in the mandatory installation fees.
So yes. I'm very glad I have it.. And it was well worth the logistical hassle to get it. I'm going to have this truck for a long time.
Also, lets imagine that my Gladiator turns into a turd and I want to sell it in a year.
I bet that I could get nearly as much as I paid for it. Maybe more since its already assembled and I'd help the person install it.
I am over 50. In that time I've learned to be patient and get EXACTLY what I want. The Jeep I now have is EXACTLY what I want. I ordered the Jeep with exactly the options I wanted. I ordered the topper. And it all works for me.
In my opinion, once production is going on in the US, the logistical problems will be greatly reduced and the only reason to buy anything else will be gone. Its a great product.

I've only had mine for a couple weeks. So I can't really comment on how they are holding up. But I got mine partly to haul my dog in. So the side windows are critical. And frankly I don't care if they leak a small amount. I'd rather have that than no side windows. Are the seals on your side windows holding up well to the elements? Not a chance, my guess is you will see price additional price increases. So if they are gonna build them near Dallas, how about a price reduction since you won’t have to factor in the shipping cost of coming over seas now?
My window seals are holding up great and my dogs love the side windows. Are the seals on your side windows holding up well to the elements? I love mine, a lot of people like alumcab but the smartcap looks great I’ve never had water in it from snow or rain so it seals good. Not sure how I feel about the locking recessed handles but mine seem to work good. I got the flat platform rack. You can also add toolboxes or kitchens to the side wing windows. I added locking Maxtrax mounts to my side wing doors I have the EVO A which is all steel. It took a heavy duty drill bit & patience to drill holes for those Rivnuts so it’s really well made. Has a spot for an optional table, inside at the top of the cap. and Molly mounts on the inside doors. By the time I got the rack, shipping, taxes & install fees mine was closer to 5K. The rack brought the price up.Looking at different options and this seems to have a lot of good attributes if you get the unit. But, really, $4K? Is the value there as just a top?
