Confused as shit as usual....I have a Mojave. If the Rubi steel takeoff has all the parksense stuff already on it...why is necessary to buy all of that? Trying to understand.

Any guess how much weight adding the rear steel adds? I already have the Rubicon bed sliders.
If you get lucky and your seller includes them, then you are right and you don't need them, but I didn’t come across a seller including these because most were keeping the rings/bezels/brackets to install their parksense on their new bumper.

The last few items are because there are a few additional mount points on the steel bumper.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the weight increase

Just picked up a steel rear for $200 from a Jeep salvage yard. It was a little beat up but no dents. Waiting on the bolts and rivnuts that connect to the hitch receiver to come in along with new inserts and a second hook. Going to give it the full raptor liner treatment and cover up the sensor holes as I don't need them on my max tow. The steel rear is solid and after beating up my plastic one on the trails this will be a welcome addition.

I swapped from a Mojave plastic rear with park sense to a steel rubi take-off ... it was straight forward ... I had already purchased the rear rock sliders and bolts new (so the list below won't include those) ... the only other choice that you will need to make is whether you want to add a hook or a close-out (overlands only have one in the rear bumper, if I recall correctly)

______copied from one of my old posts__________

The cost for the parksense brackets wasn't horrible when I did mine. First, when I did mine, you couldn't get a steel rear bumper with park sense holes unless it was a take-off ... I don't know if this has changed. The brackets for the steel and plastic bumpers were different and a couple of additional bolts were required. The total cost for all of this was approx $70 from all mopar parts a little over a year ago ...

I am doing this project now (July 2022). Trying to figure out where the couplers go…

I am assuming that by "coupler" that you are talking about the plastic rings that go around the sensors?

If so, then it has been long enough that I do not remember the exact rotational orientation of each one, but I do remember that there is a small orientation tab in the bezels. The same style of tabs are present on the plastic bumper brackets/bezels, which is what I used to figure out how it was going to work for the steel bumper.

Sorry that I don't remember the rotational alignment any more ... too many projects ago!

As far as from left to right ...

From the parts diagram
Bezels from left to right (driver the passenger)

6UD41RXFAA
6UD40RXFAA
6UD42RXFAA

Brackets from left to right (driver to passenger)

68341888AA
68341892AA

Good Luck!

It seemed to have worked! So far, test show that alerts are coming from correct sensor. I’ll know more tomorrow.

stupid question, why wouldnt the brackets and bezels and couplers and stuff swap over from plastic to metal bumper? are they different sizes? I have a metal bumper in my garage im waiting on time off work to swap it on my overland. was hoping i could just swap everything from plastic to metal. it sounds like that isnt the case anymore.

I think one of the earlier posts gave different part numbers for the brackets and bezels. The sensors stay the same.

The sensor brackets aren't removable from the plastic bumper. Well you could cut them off but it won't do any good because they can't attach to anything.

Short version- The bumpers have slightly different angles ... the bezels adjust for these different angles

I finally got mine all finished today. I basically had to do it twice because I didn’t realize all the extra parts I needed to swap the sensors. It’s not difficult, but definitely takes some time and patience. Love having the bed sliders!
Can you share all of the parts needed to swap the sensors? Thank you.
