I must be one of THE worst when it comes to "Analysis Paralysis". I was hoping some of you folks could weigh in with experience/opinions on the following two running boards:

https://www.extremeterrain.com/jeep-gladiator-rocker-steps-rs-jss-224.html

https://www.extremeterrain.com/jeep-gladiator-rocker-steps-textured-black-tac-jrs-224.html

There both pretty darn close in structure, just the finishes are a little different. Maybe I should just get plastered, close my eyes, and order one!! Anyone else use the inebriated approach?

Get plastered, order both, return the set that doesn't match your Jeep to your liking.

Or do this...

Only difference I could see was the first link set has an additional E-Coating layer before the powder coat the other set does not stipulate.

My RSE power steps top gave me a great place to sit while removing the GPS units the dealer installed to upsell theft recovery services.

As someone who has had multiple side steps nothing compares to OEM quality in terms of fitment and longevity. Every aftermarket side step i have had has rusted and/or had fitment issues. I see OEM side steps on fb marketplace all the time and reasonably priced. Just my two cents!!

From experience, Extreme Terrain has a funky return policy. They require pictures of items and "approval" prior to returning a higher priced item. And, they won't refund the shipping costs. I've complained on two occasions without the courtesy of a reply from ET, so I just shop at their competitors.

I have the top one of the two you posted. Feel very solid and I really like the rough texture. Helps with foot traction.

Thanks, I saw that too. Might be a little more durable for scuffs & such.

I’ve ran the power step XL for 5 years. No issues, no rusting or finish concerns. Really solid mod imo. They have gotten a lot more expensive since I bought them.

A buddy gave me a set of stock Rubicon rock rails I then swapped for OEM Overland steps. I'd not call them "trail rated" but a good step and gravel and mud "rated" for cutting it from the sides. I didn't need the step to get in but definitely good for not having the paint beat to death. Gravel and muddy roads are a regular thing for me. With the (small) lift now I do use the step now at times.
So the second hand market takeoff's are normally a good place to look as others said, likely at substantial savings.
