So. What's everyone doing for rust prevention??
Its no surprise these trucks are costly. Add to it the aftermarket goodies we all do and they're a pretty penny. For those of us in the north (Montana for me) what are folks doing?
In the past for my other vehicles I have done the following using Eastwood products:
I am asking because I really want to protect and extend the life of the Gladiator. I likely will have the exterior wrapped just to help save the paint. As I am really hoping this will be a 20 year rig for me. But the garbage spray they use on the roads here destroys vehicles. I have already called nearly every body shop within 2 hours of me and none of them does undercoating anymore. Not sure why. Not even a 'custom' shop will do a coating of such. Also, it doesn't seem anybody has any of the northeast 'oil' products that I have seen floating around. Kinda strange seeing as how everyone knows the spray is terrible stuff. Maybe what I did for my old truck and TJ is what I will end up doing but hoping there might be a better more robust and longer term solution.

In the past for my other vehicles I have done the following using Eastwood products:
- Wash the frame and under body as good as possible
- let dry
- scrub any building rust with a wire wheel
- wipe down with Eastwood Paint Prep
- spray any bit of rust with Eastwood rust converter
- 2 thin coats and one heavy coat letting each coat fully cure for 24 hours before applying the next
- spray with Eastwood rubberized rust encapsulator
- its a thin paint style of under coating, rubbery so it flexes
- 2 thin coats and one heavy coat letting the first 2 coats dry for 4 hours before re-applying and waiting 24 hours before applying the 3rd heavy coat
- also use Eastwood interior Frame coating (green stuff) in areas not accessible such as inside a boxed frame
