Since so new, push for a total.... remember insurance company has to repair to what it was when hit. That frame cannot be guaranteed to be that unless they put a new frame under it. Why so many Tesla's are totaled.

I would only look at switching insurance companies based on how they treat you while handling this claim. GAP insurance usually comes from the lender, or the dealer offers it at the time of purchase. It pays what is left on the loan after the insurance payout for a totaled vehicle. Many insurance companies offer a full replacement option, but only for new vehicles, and it usually has to be added to the policy when the vehicle is purchased.

This is helpful information. I'll check my contract / bill of sale. I did some checking today, though, and all signs point to "GEICO does not offer vehicle replacement coverage" while other insurers (Liberty Mutual, maybe Allstates, etc) seem to.

I'm in PA too, don't be in a hurry to settle, play hardball with insurance, I'd start seeing your doctor and get double checked, sometimes accident injury doesn't present immediately

Geico does offer loan value option. I don't think anyone actually offers 'replacement', but dealers offer Gap insurance which covers the difference between loan and value. Geico offers that as well - called Loan Val.

Some do.
I got equivalent new vehicle replacement coverage if the JT was totaled within 12 mo./15K mi.
It cost a whopping $6/6 mo.

If you can not seem to get a replacement vehicle and you are "stuck" with this after repairs, file a diminished value claim. The value of that vehicle just dropped like a sack of potatoes. Go to two or three shops and have them value it after repairs. Take the median value how how much it dropped, add on what cost you incurred going to said shops, and demand that in the claim.

I have done this twice. Insurance companies will lowball the hell out of you on these. But they will give in eventually. I had to hold my ground for 4 months following my DVC on someone who fell asleep at the wheel and hit me while I was at a dead stop at 50 MPH on the Schuylkill two years ago.
