Tired of having the thought "what did you do with your JT today" being "used it as a hearse" or "used it as an ambulance".
You know how one can get when there's physical pain - then stack all of the other stuff up. It's a good thing the weather sucks and I don't feel like leaving the house. I'd not be a nice cuddly person out there.

It's so quiet and weird in the house now - two of the most active fun cats gone, Lucky is curled up on a pillow on the couch and poor Koko can't hear and has bad arthritis and is curled up in a heated bed, sleeping. Normally by now I'd have two cats trying for my lap or attention.............
(Koko still misses his brother, I can tell)

I’m really sorry for your loss and pain. We lost our last dog almost five years ago and haven’t had the heart to replace her. Thoughts and prayers to you and your wife.

The one in the foreground really reminds me a lot of the little dog Dad had for a few years (before my father died - my youngest brother took in the dog for the rest of it's life)

I'm sorry Bill that's a rough situation. I hate when it comes down to no good choices but to say goodbye. I've had to say goodbye to my share of dogs and cats, never easy. I can remember each one of them like they were still with me too. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

I gave my sappy/emotional animal lover response earlier. Why was he named Pickle?
Interesting note that a lot of cats seem to get named "Pickles" or "Pickle".
It was a perfect name for him - I called him our sweet Pickle.
When we adopted him from the ARL back in July 2011, they were running an adoption special - the adoption fee was discounted if the animal had stripes. Well, Pickle was one big set of bar codes.
When I went to the front desk for the final paperwork, the lady said "we call him Pickle, do you want to change that?" My wife and I both instantly said no, it's a perfect name for him!.

I wondered why that name is often chosen, so did a dig into it using Google and it came up with this -

People name their cats Pickle for several reasons, including the name being seen as amusing or endearing, and sometimes due to its associations with being a cute or cheeky pet. Some may also choose it because it is a unique and memorable name. The word "pickle" itself has various meanings, from an idiom for being in a tough spot to a historical nickname for cheeky children.
  • Cute and Endearing: Some people simply find the name "Pickle" cute and affectionate, using it for a pet they adore. It can also be a nickname for a pet that is a little mischievous or cheeky.
  • Unique and Memorable: Choosing a unique name like "Pickle" can be a way to stand out and give a pet a memorable identity.
" playful, a little cheeky, "
playful - that fit him perfectly.

If you ever watched Swamp People, years ago, Troy Landry had a deck hand called "Pickle" and it fit that girl's personality perfectly. It just seemed to fit. She was a bit sassy, not afraid to speak right back to Troy.

So Pickle kept his name.

When he was feeling better, he knew when it was time for meds and would "trot" into the front room and dive into a cat tunnel, lay down and smack at anything touching that tunnel. avoiding capture, but playing at the same time.

Thank you for sharing. That’s a great story.

I get the keeping the name when it’s right for them. All of my dogs have been rescues and I kept 2/3 names. They fit. One didn’t fit at all and he got renamed.

Im sorry to hear that Bill. Life has a way of piling up sometimes. If I was in the area I'd come give you a hand with whatever I could. I love my cats dearly and can imagine the pain, especially with all of the other hurdles.

Pickle looked like a lovely cat! Very similar to our Cassie Cat. Shes about a year and a half old now.

Cali is on the slope. 22 years old, and I think we are nearing that point where the bad days are as common as the good ones. 'Bones' I affectionately call her sometimes - as there isnt much else of her left.

I let her have a tiny bit of milk and whipped cream the other night. Not terribly healthy for cats, but when your days are nearly numbered...

I went downstairs to look for another bottle of my salad dressing on the shelves down there...........
as I got to the bottom, it really hit me as Pickle used to lay down there so he could keep an eye on upstairs and down, and the back door from that spot. Told my wife, I can't go down there again for a while.

Bill, late to seeing this and response. Condolences, I definitely know how attached someone can be. I had lost Amber. She was a the only thing that gave me a reason to come home to. When I got her I was going through everything crashing on me. More than I would put out here or anywhere. The loss of her wasn't at a great time ether, not of natural causes.

Then earlier this year someone decided they liked this guy better. Buddy's problem I guess is he was friendly to anyone. Amber wasn't friendly to many.

If I was nearby, I have 2 that are trying to be house cats. Less than a year old.
