Probably what I'll do.
Why not take it to bed height tho?

1. I am wanting to use the aux tank as an extension of the main tank. No transfer pump, just have it plumbed directly into the stock tank so it self-feeds. You wouldn't even use the filler behind the fuel door, use a cap on the top of the tank. In this scenario, the top of the fuel cannot be any higher than the filler neck, else you will have fuel spilling out the oem filler neck like this:
Edit: I suppose you could reroute/block off the oem filler tube & use a taller aux tank...

2. Taller tank would interfere with the trail-rail mounts.

Why not put a petcock on the top tanks fill line. Run one tank empty-ish then fill #2

Certainly would work. Just make sure tank #2 is not larger than tank #1

My f150 had the 36-gallon tank and I loved being able to get nearly 700 miles on a tank. I really think I'd rather go extended tank than pack jerry cans or rotopaks. Tank would need baffles Im sure. I wonder what it would cost to have the tank made.

I would love to see a bed cap that looks more like a extension of the front cab

Talked to Bestop today..They at this time have no timeframe for their core doors for JL/JT.
Really Really was hoping for these..best looking half doors IMHO

hmmmm, I was talking to their rep last weekend. They were having a Jeeps and Java event at their HQ. He claimed that JL/JT core doors are going to be out next summer. But who knows. IMO, with Bestop, AEV, and a few others you have to consider something vaporware until it's not.

Had another conversation with Bestop and they can't say when they will get to them but they are going to try to move it up the ladder so to speak and see if they can get more interest in them for coming to market sooner...I hope . These will look awesome on a Gladiator..

I want to see:
- Fully functioning half doors (with mirrors and top half)
- Full height bed rack (to carry bikes under and kayaks above) supporting use of tonneau cover so I have a water proof trunk when I need one

I want to see a full height bed rack or some type of rack that still allows for use of the tonneau cover

i'm sure they have electronic petcocks, right? then you wouldn't even need to stop, lmao.........almost empty and press AUX 3!

I use this setup on all of my F250 diesel trucks, the rds kit has a ball float in the neck adapter that shuts off the fuel flow to the lower tank. In the illustration it shows the fuel filler neck higher than the upper tank, I assure you it is not on my F250, not sure this will work with gasoline though.

I have installed an 80 gal transfer tank in a 2013 and 2015 and I installed a 91 gal in 2019 and my latest is a 69 gal in a 2019, did the smaller tank so that it would fit below a hard tonneau cover. Again not sure it will work with gas or not, or if one of the kits would even work on a Jeep.

I would think this would be necessary to keep the fuel in the top tank from pushing out of the bottom tank filler. Gravity alway wins.

Here is a picture of the 2013 I used to drive, tank installed in March of 2013.

Here is the 2015 installed July 2015.

Here is the first 2019 done in Feb 2019. This is the one that has a 91 gal in the back.

Here is the 2019 I am driving now. 69 gal tank so that it will fit under hard cover. Installed 2 weeks ago.

Here is picture of the filler adapter installed, the brass fitting on top has a floating ball as a check valve once the lower tank is full it floats to the top and shuts off the flow.

Gravity wins is true. That empty tank at the bottom will accept the fuel until it's full. You won't have to worry about the fuel running out of the factory fill neck until the lower tank is filled up to that height. Every drag-up tank I've ever used was installed this way. When the bottom tank is full simply turn off the valve.
