I would tell those that are new to this defect to not get too discouraged. Yes it's frustrating if not infuriating and inconvenient as hell, however I can say that since the dealer replaced the def tank and heaters I've had no problems and it has been single digits to -20 since I picked it up. They'll get it fixed and you'll have the your bad ass torque monster back.

Good to hear. Hopeful to get to that point, the rental van they gave me certainly isn’t winning any points in the 12” of snow today!

I wonder if they had a bad batch of DEF heaters?

Knocking on wood here, I've got about 850 miles on mine, no CEL so far...

I keep forgetting to look at my build date and it's about -10 right now so I'll try to remember to check it out tomorrow.

Just Bought my new Diesel Gladiator a week ago, my only vehicle and wallaaaa. At 903 miles on the odometer I got the CEL and Service DEF, See Dealer message. Made it home and now have just over a 100 miles until it wont start. Great..... I commute about 150 miles every day, Cant be having these issues with a brand new vehicle.

Certainly seems to be more cases here on the JT side versus the JL side. Hope you all get it figured out. :lipssealed:

My build date is 12-20. I have an appointment at 0950 this morning to get it checked. Hopefully they have parts in stock.

It appears you are right. My warning/check engine light went out yesterday. Haven't decided if I'm still gona take it into dealer for the wed. Appointment or not.
I would.

I would. This is starting to appear to be a wide spread issue and we will need everyone with the issue pushing back to force jeep to develop a fix. There are many competitor diesels that use DEF and not having freeze issues. My son had a Volkswagen TDI for 3 years and no is ues, and a friend of mine has a Mercedes Sprinter diesel van up in the Michigan UP for 3 years and 50,000 mile freeze free Def use. Looks to be a bad design, poor insulation or possibly a supplier lot number difficent pump. Lots of possibilities but bottom line is the glafiator should not have engine shut down for this issue.

i know i posted message a day or 2 ago about being patient and to not get discouraged but hearing that some are getting the mileage countdown/no restart message is not acceptable. fortunately it didn't happen to me......however it's one thing to get a cel and/or see dealer message, but it's entirely different if the vehicle disables itself in potentially life threatening conditions/situation due to a bullshit emissions defect. maybe at the very least jeep can deprogram the engine shut down/no restart mileage counter to eliminate the risk of someone getting stranded.......safety has to be more important that emissions. not trying to be over dramatic but with temps in the -20's and windchills in the -40+ it kind of puts a different twist on things

maybe the "jeep cares" folks will hone in on this and help jeep get in front of this issue and get a recall or service bulletin in the works so someone doesn't end up stranded.

Had great experience with Ram ecodiesel. So decided to buy Gladiator eco diesel. At mile 350 got CEL light with see dealer for DEF service. Checked level of fluid no issue. Took into dealer. DEF tank frozen solid. Dealer explained to me that this should not have ever happened. At 30° Heater is supposed to come on. The sensors in the system are supposed to recognize if it freezes and not send an error code and work with the system to until it thaws out. Or to not cycle. Essentially it was designed for a worse case scenario. However dealer told me the sensors were frozen. As this should never happen as the heater should have come on at 30° to prevent this.
a few key notes. In MN where it’s been negative for many days in a row. The truck was not plugged in.
At this point Truck has been at the dealer for a week waiting for the engineers at Jeep to come up with a solution.

I got my Gladiator back after 5 hours with a Jeep Service mechanic. They were not to open to tell me what they did / had to do. However, they did say there is a TSB (Tech. Service Bulletin) out for the issue. Apparently took some reprogramming / 30 min. idle time followed by 30 minutes of driving above 30 mph to check and make sure the reprograming was accepted. Oddly, they said if the light comes back on they will replace the entire DEF system.
