Just put 37s on my auto JTR stock wheels BFG ko2. MY mileage dropped from 15.3 to about 14.6 NOT bad at all acutually better than my08 jkur with 35s whcih was about 12-13 and slighly better than my JLUr with 35s at about 14.-14.5 and yes I have a lead foot.

This is what I have noticed so far . Going down hill or on flats at 75-85 it holds 8th pretty well about 200rpm at 75 So that would be like through the central valley in Ca. Going from abot 200 feet to 4400 feet on I 5 up the grapevine it drops to 5th and still pulls 75 just fine. Rpm in 8th at about 75 is about 2000
in 7th about 2500. In 5th Rpm is pushing 4k.

So i am assumming if I go to 488s it will hold 8th longer? But what will the rpm be?
And will my mileage be any better? I don't really care about the mileage i am just curious.
Will 488s put me in say 6th goinf up the grape vine or will it still drop to 5th?

I talke d to a guy running 37s with a 4 inch evo lift but is a sport with I think 373s and he said he drops to 4th.
To me on a freeway like that seems like your engine is going to be screaming.

Another factor is enginer and oil temps in the summer up those same grades If i am running at say 3000 rpm won't my engine be running hotter. Thae valley routinely hits 110 AND coming of the valley bottom it will sometimes be 95 -100 over the grapvine. This is a 6% grade for 5 miles.

So in general will 488 have me running a higher RPM but able to hold 8th longer and will 488s put me in a lower gear at lower rpms going a steep and long hill.

What I would also like to know:

stock 410s 488

gear speed rpms
8th 70 ~2000 8th 70 ?????
7th 75 2500 7th 70 ????
6th 75 ??? ?????
5th 75 4000? ???? this is going up a 6% grade for 5 miles
