Would you support a tax on miles driven to curb climate change. Why or why not and If so, should electric vehicles be taxed the same or not?

Americans enjoy pretty low fuel prices compared to other western countries. As we "progress", it's only a matter of time when these policies happen. Sometimes I wonder, how high gas prices would need to climb in order for me to sell my gladiator. Iam not the only one. Government has the power to invest or punish certain industries. Iam all for alternative fuel, but not prematurely and forcibly. I want massive torque at the drop of a hat but I also want affordable battery replacement options.

No. Freaking. Way. Keep that shit in Kalifornia and the blue states. As stated above, "climate change" is a narrative for CONTROL. That's what they want and that's all they will ever want.

Automobiles are such a small fraction of the total amount of pollution made. Would be much better to focus on reducing the carbon footprint of / reducing usage of container ships and airplanes

?????????? yep.

Im with the no more taxes ever crowd. As it stands our return on investment is negligible as far as im concerned.

We already pay a per mile tax in that the fuel we buy is taxed....so guys who drive less fuel efficient vehicles and/or farther distances pay a higher rate than those who drive more fuel efficient vehicle and/or drive shorter distances.

I honestly doubt this will be a thing for a long time since it would directly effect shipping within the nation, causing everything else to increase in cost to cover the added cost to ship it by ground...which is still the major route for pretty much all shipping inside the country.

Though I do know it was added to that asinine "infrastructure" legislation, I'm holing out hope that it will fizzle for a while.

I'm all for helping the environment.

Like any reasonable person.

I'm not for any more taxes, I'm not for overlords knowing how much I drive or where. Yes, I know my phone probably makes that easy. But why add one more thing.

I can tell you that any government supplied dongle that arrives at my door with instructions to plug into my diagnostic port for tracking mileage will "short out" mysteriously. Along with the replacement that they send.

Damn jeep is just finicky I guess. Well I tried. I'll apply for the waiver.
