These are the beasts!
Information on these seems to be sparse, and while there is a youtubes on installing, these information may be a bit dated? (See below). My install victim is a 2021 JTRD, and below are notes from my experience.
A thing to note is that these things are HEAVY! The (truck) shipping label on my delivery said 190 lbs for the package (including pallet):
I had to call Shrockworks to get the hardware bits for the install, they were not packaged with the above. But, here's what you get:
From right to left, front mount bolt/nut, center nut plate, and rear "lollipop" nuts. The front and center bits fit through existing holes in the frame and use existing holes in the frame. The rear mount requires drilling 2 holes.
The from mount I ended up getting into place and then putting a nut on the stud to tighten it down and form the bracket to the inside of the frame. With the stud nut tight, I had to put a bolt in the nut and bend it to line up flush(ish) with the hole in the frame.
I didn't take before pics, but here is the after:
Center plate is pretty straight forward. Horn up, flat to the frame. Again, an after pic:
The rear though, has a pretty clever solution that differs from the video below. The video says that Shrockworks says to drill and tap the the hole for the 1/2" bolt. This had me concerned, with the frame wall only being 3.5mm thick. So those U shaped things with nuts welded above can be straightened to:
And then that is fished through a hole in the frame to secure the rear bolts:
This will require a bit of patience as you try to press the nut against the inner wall and try yo catch a thread with the bolt. When ddone, the tail will just push inside the frame.
They appear to be STOUT steps/sliders that should stand up to anything I throw at them.
Overall VERY happy with the product, just wish there was a bit more information available about them (from the manufacturer?) to review before the purchase. And hopefully this helps future buyers. ?
