Most "car brand" oil is Pennzoil, I just don't assume.Probably a Pennzoil/Shell product
Owners manual recommends Pennzoil. It's a full synthetic 0W20, so whatever the dealer uses should be fine.Had completely forgotten about this... I am due for my first change. What brand of oil does Jeep use by default?

Biggest concern is make sure they put the oil drain plug back in and they tighten the oil filter cap but don't break it.Biggest concern? Makes sure they do 5qts, not 6. No more, no less.
My dealer replaced a missing air box screw for free.I bought my Overland in July 2019. The dealer told me about the four free changes and rotations included in the Wave program. They include two additional free changes to encourage the use of their service department. I will get my last Wave change the first week of July. That will be six free changes in 24 months. After that, I plan to do it myself. The only problem I have had is they lost one of the air filter cover screws. I also lost one, so I ordered five new ones with the Mopar CAI. I put a visible label on with the date and mileage of the filter change so they wouldn't bother it. Seems to have worked, no missing screws this time. This dealer is pretty decent. They have replaced the rear driveshaft and steering box under warranty with no issues, other than the amount of time it took to get it done.
I'm sure the dealer would have, but it wasn't worth the hassle and the trip across town. I just added them to the Mopar CAI order, and got them delivered to the front door.My dealer replaced a missing air box screw for free.
Any Jeep dealer. Just don't fall for the fluid flushes and chemical additives.Does anyone know if we have to go to the dealer we bought the Gladiator from or any dealer would suffice? Thanks in advance.
- If a dealer destroys your engine due to a bad oil change, sure, they are liable. But your JT will be at that dealership for many weeks while they wait to find you a new engine. The JT uses a synthetic type oil. If a dealership damages your vehicle while servicing it, they are libel for the repairs. That said, you can run an engine for several minutes, or more without replacing a drained oil pan, without damaging it. Most new engines will not even start without oil in them or will shut down if oil pressure drops.
cheers
No. Dealer/manufacturers cannot deny warranty claims simply because you change your own oil.So Ive always done my own oil changes and even tire rotations. But if you change your own oil while under warranty are you asking for a warranty denial if you have engine issues down the road?
You should maintain records showing the maintenance schedule in the Owner's Manual was followed. They could deny a claim for a seized engine if you cannot show the minimum required maintenance was completed. The Jeep app shows visits to the dealer, and has a place for owners to enter records for work not done by the dealer. So Ive always done my own oil changes and even tire rotations. But if you change your own oil while under warranty are you asking for a warranty denial if you have engine issues down the road?
