I was cleaning my truck this weekend and found a tear in my seat. I am not sure what to do other than get it reupholstered which I am sure will not be cheap not to mention finding someone good to do it and matching the leather.

Anyone else go through this?

Given the location I think if you got it fixed it would just tear again. It looks like it would remained mostly tucked away, i'd try to fabric glue a patch or something on there and call it a day.

Looks like another tear starting below left. Still have a warranty. I would start there. Sad to think the seat handle may have rubbed up against it and caused that. But appears that way. Glue may keep it from getting worst for now if not covered under a warranty.

If you're not still under factory warranty, I'd take it to an upholstery shop and ask them if they can repair it.

Unfortunately most upholstery shops are backed up, at least in my area they are. But maybe a small repair job could be put at the front of the line.

Standard Jeep seat tear. Every Jeep I ever had the seat tore in someplace. Mostly the top part after the threads part. Last one was a 2012 Liberty with leather seats it cracked after 2 years.

We had a tear on the leather seat of my wife’s last car. We had a mobile repair guy come take care of it. He said the color would be a little off due to age and may not hold due to the location. I think it was about $75. It lasted another 5 years until we sold the car.

I would at least let a repair shop take a look.

On my last truck I actually needed to reupholster a cushion. I bought a complete cushion cover on eBay. The color was slightly and I mean very slightly off. It took me a couple of hours to remove the seat and cushion, and was much cheaper than a quote I got from a shop.

You could replace just the bottom cover. I’ve done a few years ago but they were not leather. They were the fabric seats. Try to repair first though if you can’t get it fixed under warranty ? Where that’s ripped is probably vinyl in that area. Leather is usually where you sit only ? They have gotten really cheap over the years. I checked mine when I seen yours. Tan leather overland 2022 and looks good. Looks like the material has dried out and gone to crap and it is ripping alittle below that as well. Shouldn’t do that in 10 years out in the weather and sun !!

I replaced all my black leather oem with cloth oem. It's not hard to do just a little time consuming. Buy a new piece and some hog ring pliers.

I had exactly the same tear before the first year was up on the side of my seat. People mention warranty, but I took it to three different dealerships and they say that seats are not covered under the factory warranty. Does anybody know something different?

There full of BS. You have a 3 year bumper to bumper 100%. Don't let dealer BS you. Call Chrysler customer service for the warranty repairs. They can't pick and choose what warranty work they want. A lot of dealers are scumbags dealers, not all. Just let them know your going after them. Good luck, I was in that business for 34 years. The dealer that sold you the Jeep and said it wasn't covered is BS, the other dealers figured they didn't sell the guy the truck so what the hell.

Do you know a phone number with a human? They are all on the same page. Brakes, tires, seats, etc. are considered “normal wear”. The thing that bugs me is that the side of the seat doesn’t even make contact with anything. That splitting on the side within a year seems to be a rather common problem.

The only next course of action I can find is to have an upholstery shop replace those panels with quality materials.
