Went to go pick up a rtt from a guy in a Mojave only had it for a year and is selling it for a bigger truck. I drive down looking at it. It's on a fish bone rack but it's starting to rust and the quality isn't there. So I tell him I just want the rtt but we were going to go to the dunes so he said I'll go with you!! Then we can load it up after. So we go thanks to the tazer I can do 2wd locked rear traction control off and off we go. Kept up with him for the most part till the dunes then 4hi locked rear no tc. But I could not keep up with him! Even with peer pressure from my buddy lol! The diesel Rubicon is just too heavy up front and I hit the bump stops a few times. But just going up the dunes you need the rpm of the gas motor. It was fun!! But those Mojaves are just bad ass. As for the rtt I think I'm going to mount it to my 49!!

What are Pismo flag rules? Can I mount off cargo rails or does it need to be forward?

Looks like a good time, I'd love to be doing that with mine..

Planning on going to Easter jeep safari, so I'm definitely planning on finding some dunes to play on.

I'd love to see the 49 with a rack and RTT lol, I'll bet that would be cool

Oceano is the sole place.

I am sure some tree huggers are trying to ban it.
There's no trees in the sand. But yes it will be closed by 2024. You have 2.5 more years.

It may stay open to street legal vehicles, at least in sections, it may just be the ATVs getting axed. I didnt follow it closely when it was discussed over the summer.

Tree huggers would argue the vehicle emissions make it to the forest. They will find a way to blame moon pollution on people who enjoy life.

OMFG the artcile is ENRAGING:

"“This reprieve for endangered wildlife and coastal dunes habitat will allow the non-motorized public to enjoy our beach and dunes "

The "non-motorized public" has the ENTIRETY OF THE REST OF THE CALIFORNIA COASTLINE to enjoy.

"“Oceano has been called the poster child for environmental injustice on the California coast,” Varni said. “We need a vehicle-free beach to grow an equitable economy and improve the quality of our community life.”
"

A vehicle free beach GROWS the economy? What?

Outside of the pics of a Jeep or Raptor running in the sand, Oceano gets quite gross in the areas people congregate. There's things they could do like issue permits with like a 50 per day max, or disallow camping and trailers and RVs.

But much like the Rubicon being tamed down, overuse and misuse leads to this and then people who create the issue like to blame everyone but themselves.

Regulate it then. Issue fines. Charge permits that pay for cleanups. CA always BANS instead. 7 Zonies fought the SDPD on the beach? Ban all beach alcohol forever. It's insane. The #BanAllTheThings attitude is idiotic.

As a lifelong San Diegan in this communist State, I am paying RECORD prices and taxes and get less and less for it.

The Coastal Commission doesn't understand why it's so packed there? It's because it's BANNED everywhere else. People who want to off road and camp have every right to use the beach per their pleasure as anyone else and a system should be created to allow any and all desired activities.

I think the issue wrt to Oceano is it's so far gone from people abusing it. Perhaps after a break itll be back. And it' not closing, it's closing to OHV.

You're seeing less and less because more and more people are causing more and more damage to places like this.

It's not the government's fault, it's the people who caused the damage that are at fault. People can't use things responsibly so they get taken away.

Also, CA is not communist. That's just the boogey man scary term right wingers enjoy but don't understand.

It is the government's fault. The government is tasked with managing use, creating and enforcing regulations. Do we close freeways because of DUI drivers? Regulation and banning are two different things.

CA is absolutely communist. Saying it isn't is just left wingers in denial. Key detail for communism: "advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned". This defines the posture of CA's legislature. Not everything is right/left. This isn't the Raiders versus the Chargers.

It will NEVER be back. Ever hear of a CA "temporary tax"?

I am sure Glamis and Superstition will be next. It's amazing - Baja is serene. 0 off road restrictions. This has nothing to do with pollution and everything to do with Californian's always wanting to ban things they don't do or understand themselves. Before you say "leave then" - nope - they should leave. ;)

The amount of Bay Area to LA traffic on the 5 ( non commercial or necessary, just leisure ) creates thousands of times more air pollution than Oceano. Ban it? You don't NEED to drive to the Bay Area for vacation, just like they say we don't NEED to drive on the beach. A little reflection on the part of our communist masters is needed.

I get it dude, you live in the Bay Area. We aren't going to agree, on anything.

It's typically learned in by Kindergarten that when your teacher or parents take something away that you were not using properly, that it is your fault for misuse, not their fault for taking it away.
I didn't misuse Oceano though. Neither do thousands upon thousands of others. Analogy failure. The government is responsible for managing the land, and they failed. You said so yourself that they failed. "Oceano gets quite gross in the areas people congregate."

Have they banned sidewalks in SF yet because of all the misuse? ( poop )
