Thinking of getting a travel trailer. Any suggestions for a 23 Mojave AT? Was looking around at a 28ft 4900# dry trailer.

I have the Vantage Sonic SN220VRB. Mine's a 2021. It's 27' long and around 5,100 lbs with all we want or need. Tongue weight from the factory was 420 lbs but, with all the schtuffola in the front pass through, it's probably more like 520 lbs. Pics below. I tow it with an Overland. My Overland handles it beautifully with the BlueOx WDH and the Tekonsha brake controller.

Vantage also makes other models in the same length and weight range with rear bunks if that's what you need. Our set up is good for us because it's just me and the Bride :) :) :)

Me plus the wife plus a new born and a 2 year, so I’m looking at something with a bunk in the back with 1 slide.

It’s not going to be a full time tow. We plan on selling the house and moving but don’t want to settle with a house yet.

Yeah I have a curt brake controller already and WDH, just looking for the right one.

We tow a Geo Pro 19bh at around 3,400 lbs.

The 20BHS has bunks and a slide out for the dinette. It weighs around 3,650lbs. I think quality wise, Geo Pros are great.

I don't recommend towing near the limit. You will feel it. I would say 4,000 lbs or less would be adequate for the JT. That way your truck won't be revving the daylights out of the 3.6.

So, something like this...you can walk on either side of the main bed. These trailers are very well constructed.

Do you guys think this would be too much for it? Granted it has a CCC of 2400, but I won't ever get close to it. It'll basically be driven to our new home state until we find a house.

This seems to be in your weight range and you will LOVE that outdoor kitchen like I have in mine. You can fit a griddle over the two burners and cook just about anything plus, your trailer won't smell like cooked grease inside.

If the outdoor kitchen is like mine, the dorm room size fridge will be 110v only. My inside one is either 12V or 110v depending if I'm towing or hooked up to shore power.

The one you have pictured is 8' wide. Mine's 7.5' wide. Dunno how much of a difference 3" either side will make with visibility.

My towing mirrors are ones I got for the JL/JK off Amazon with the Thorne Engineering (look on here for how to get) adapters and, they fit securely and do not vibrate. I just added the stick on wide angle mirrors advertised here, Extended View Mirrors on Amazon , and what a huge difference in being able to see down the sides of the trailer. Highly recommended.

How is towing that length with a gladiator? Any concerns? I've never towed a TT with my gladiator yet just a side by side (16ft). My only concern is being too long for sway even with a WDH sway controller. I had a diesel 1500 before this that towed fantastic but only had a capacity of 8000 and never got close to that so towing with a Jeep seems different.

We tow a ‘10 Dutchmen Aerolite 21KS. Dry weight is somewhere around 4200lbs. Campers probably sitting around 4600lbs hooked up ready to go. We keep our cargo weight pretty balanced between the trucks bed and the front camper storage areas. We’re towing it with our ‘20 Sport S AT. It has Yukon 5.13s, Teraflex 3.5 lift, KMC bead locks on 37s, and I’m running the Redarc brake controller. We use a Reese WDH and a Reese sway-control unit, and the JT pulls it with ease. The gears definitely helped a ton, and it still revs like crazy on some climbs, but it gets the job done pretty dang well for a brick a V6.

I've been wanting to regear from the 4.10 to 4.88, I have 37s as well. That was another concern of mine being 4.10s. I've already faced MPG is going to be trash, we drive Jeeps not tow rigs but 4.10s I barely see 8th gear on the freeway in the valley of Las Vegas. Literally have to drive up all the hills to even get away within the city.

I heard those yukon gears are not that hot of a pick for JT.

I've never had an issue towing that length. My WDH really helps and, even when I've been passed by a tractor trailer (like I'm standing still) I don't get the sway from the wind blast. Also on windy days with the wind from the side, no issues. When I do see a tractor trailer coming up on my left, I do get ready to counter steer just in case of any wind blast trying to push me around but, haven't had an issue.

I only had one issue towing...I was on the interstate and cruising in the far right lane minding my own business, and I noticed the trailer kept wanting to move to the right just a little bit and it was kinda disconcerting. I soon figured out why. There are slight ruts in the road from all the truck traffic and I was trying to position myself in the lane to avoid them as the 'centerish' part of the lane was smoother. Well, the trailer was trying to move into the ruts in spite of how I was positioned. Well, the solution was to reposition myself in the lane so the trailer actually tracked in the ruts...problem solved. Eventually, the road smoothed out a but and the ruts weren't there.

Just to let you know, having 37's on your truck, will not only have an effect on changing your final drive ratio (which you've already explained you've noticed) but, the increased un-sprung weight cuts into your safe towing capacity. Yeah, you can re-gear to help your final drive but, the extra weight will impact your safe towing ability. So keep that in mind when selecting your trailer and the loads in it, and your tow vehicle with da fam on board.

When I tow, I shift my 8sp totally manually. I never see 8th. I cruise at around 65 MPH in 7th at around 2,100 RPMs. When I hit a grade on the interstate (mind you, I'm east coast so, grades aren't as bad as outwest) when my speed drops below 58 MPH, I'll drop back to 6th at around 2,600-2,800 RPMs until I either crest the grade or get back to 65 MPH. I typically get between 12 and 13 MPGs towing. Unladen, I see around 21-22 MPGs running around and have seen over 26 MPGs straight highway with the cruise set at 70 MPH.

Yeah i figured that ya know setting this up for more offroad would cut into the towing when it comes down to it. Thats why im trying to find the in between of what trailer suits me and my family. Two majors is a bunkhouse/bunk bed set up and 1 slide, i would like a seperate bedroom (door not curtain) but I know the jeep would be pushing it when it comes to those 30ft+ TT

It is a Solaire, by Palomino. Model 213X. Looks like they don’t make them anymore. I think this one is either a 2015 or 16. It’s a hybrid, so it has three pop out beds, and the couch is a slide. Pretty roomy considering. We always owned superdutys with a 32’ camper with three full slides. Huge!! And this little camper has done amazing for us given the size.
My wife has the hots for a Lance 1575. https://www.lancecamper.com/travel-trailers/1575/ (Edit added link)

She saw one here a week ago and it will actually work on her Cherokee Elite package also. She wants to go with friends that camp. But it is perfect for the Gladiator and shouldn't tax it at all and it has the tortion axle suspension so a little height and very well made. Her primary requirement was a "dry bath."

I was impressed by the quality compared to our Aspen Trail 2340 we use on long trips with the Ram 2500. I bought it so she would have to buy this...I say with fingers crossed. In looking at this, it may be the most efficient use of space in a small package I've ever seen. The slide out dinette makes into a full bed at night. Lot's o storage...
