Anyone have any idea how they test the soft tops for wind gust, etc. Man today I thought the wind was going to rip my top off from the latches and destroy it. The gust were blow so hard straight at me. I was holding that support with my hand and had to get off the freeway and onto the feeder roads so I could go slow and try to mitigate the wind.

did you install the soft top yourself or was it from the factory? I don't get any buffeting when it's closed. I've driven in head winds and with cross winds that pushes at the jeep laterally.

BAT, you’ll need to learn to live with that, it does get shaky especially on a freeway. It might feel like the top will take off at some heavy winds, but trust me it will hold. Drove thru tropical storm Henri while at cape cod last year, the roof is still there :) If the noise really bothers you there is a liner for a soft top from hothead headliners. It does help quite a bit with noise insulation on a highway, also if you live in a cold climate helps quite a bit with keeping the cabin toasty.

I’ve had my first soft top for two years. I still ?myself when I pass a tractor trailer on the highway. Seems to happen more with fuel trucks?? The roof sounds like it’s being torn off. Not every time, just happens when you least expect it!

No the noise does not bother me. I am used to it going crazy when I get behind some big rigs. I guess I am gun shy now in crazy strong wind gust as last year had the top come loose in some very high winds. I thought the thing was trashed but luckily no damage. Dealership changed out all the latches. They theorized that maybe the latching just wasn't tight enough and somehow the wind gust managed to pop up the front just enough that the force broke all the latches free. I will say I like to shit myself when that top just blew open on the freeway (LOL). Yesterday was just crazy gust so I dove to the lower feeder lanes where it wasn't as bad it seemed.

Yes I have gotten used to that. Certain trucks cause it to go crazy so I just back off or I try to not get behind them if at all possible

I have the Bestop Sunrider and it's held up with some pretty consistent strong winds. Coming home from WY on Sunday I drove through a storm that was blowing snow drifts across the entire highway. Then a strong headwind going up a straight road for about an hour.

Up to a certain mph the top stays relatively quiet. I'm not concerned with the workmanship of the top after this last trip. I'm more concerned about the degradation from UV and weather, as my JT doesn't sit in a garage.

Cross wind gets my soft top to pump and rumble like crazy. I just head to the slow lane an keep in under 65mph or slower.

Been on the highway 80mph with the top folded back, top on windows open, top on back window out - never had an issue. I have not been in really gusty winds, though.

No issues with it folded back. Its when it is closed and your doing 65 in high wind gust and the latches come loose (LOL)
