Hey all - is there a simple tool that replaces the winch rod tool I can buy instead of pulling out the jack and spare tire kit from under the seat every time I want to rotate tires? Its a PITA to get the stuff out, but more importantly it isn't really sturdy enough for frequent use (the square end starts to deform in the rods). I saw discount tire had a hand crank when I was there recently but they wouldn't tell me where to get one.

is there a simple solution or hand crank or something I can put on my impact wrench for quick work you all use?

Is your pain point using the jack? Or using the tool to remove the lug nuts?

If it's the jack, I would just get a garage jack. Much better than using the emergency jack from the Jeep.

If it's the lug nuts, I would just get an impact socket.

none of the above. I edited my original post - sorry it wasn't more clear!

I'm talking about the tool (3 or 4 pc rod) that you have to get from under the rear seat (strapped to the OEM jack) that operates the winch to lower the spare.

Oh, gotcha. Sorry, I'm not much help there. One of the reasons I don't do 5 tire rotations. Negligible benefit but more hassle.

Are you talking about something like this?

No matter what tool or alternate method you find to wind the spare tire winch, I definitely would never use an impact wrench of any type.
Too much risk of damaging the ratcheting mechanism in the tire winch.

I agree based on "typical impact wrench".
However, you can set my impact to spin only mode. (of course a drill works, too)
I use spin-only mode on my impact once I get the lug nuts loose with my breaker bar and socket.
I also use it to run the nuts up to the wheel then take it from there with a breaker bar, then torque wrench.

Of course. I didn’t mean to imply I’d use an impact to torque the spare down, just do most of the lifting :)
