Rough Country sells a box specifically for this. It is around $140. You should be able to use it with all of the Jeeps with no issues.

https://www.roughcountry.com/speedometer-calibrator-90019a.html

It doesn't work with models that have Adaptive Cruise Control or Diesel engines. The Jscan utility would be another option to look at.

Thanks, but for all following ..... both of our Rubicons have "Adaptive Cruise Control" so it wont work.

Jscan would probably be the better choice. That is what I would look at if going with larger tires. I also have ACC on mine.

EFI Live will tune multiple vehicles if you buy the program, trust me I’ve tried to use the Tazer on multiple vehicles, it doesn’t work that way.
Gregj

ETA:See my photo above, like I said I have one Tazer and three JScan licenses.
Incorrect... EFI Live V2 unit can reprogram as many vehicles as you have VIN licenses for. You have to buy VIN licenses for each individual VIN number (vehicle). The program is free, and the V2 tuner comes with it on a CD disk. The V2 tuner is what I use, it was $1,000 back in the day (10+ years ago), and VIN licenses were $150 each. Each V2 unit came with 2 included. I'm sure they're probably more now...Everything has gone up in price. Yes, I still have al my EFI Live V2 and programming stuff. I still have my Cummins. Hell, I still have my free custom-tuned Smarty Catcher67 that Marco himself gave me (for free) for testing his tunes for him. I might have been a little deep in the diesel performance scene for years... ;)

Now back to Jeeps...

You're not following what I'm saying. Speedometer settings are hard-settings programmed into the ECM. So, theoretically, you should be able to marry a Tazer, reprogram the speedometer for 37" tires, then unmarry the Tazer from the vehicle, and the speedometer SHOULD still be set for 37" tires. None of the other things would remain, but things like the the speedometer tire size, gear ratio, and t-case gear ratio should be hard-programmed functions. Those should stay reprogrammed even after removing and unmarrying the Tazer.

Ive posted this comment below in two similar threads, that were created AFTER I started my thread today....... I know Ive been commenting with some of you on those threads.

But just an update for the rest of you.....

I just bought everything needed an hour ago.
$30 for the VGATE (Prime free shipping)
$40 for the additional cable needed (Prime free shipping)
$19 for one car license (Will buy later)

So about $90 all in for one car.

The two parts arrive on Friday.

Side note .... I need it for four cars I mentioned so I need to spend $62 ($43 for three +$19 for one)

Thanks for all your help and comments!

It does not work like that with the tazer. As soon as I unmarry my tazer, the speedo is off. The unmarry function reverts all settings to factory settings. There is no getting around that.

See page 11: Mopar Performance Parts . I plan to have the dealer do it. I've never trusted the aftermarket programmers.

I can see your concern about the security gateway bypass, however it is only bypassed while you are making the changes and then it is reconnected with JScan. And JScan can do a lot of changes the Dealer can’t or won’t do.

The Tazer works similar for most changes other than the “live” functions ie light show, turn signal cam etc which require the Tazer to stay in place.

So I got the OBD scanner and security wire, and just got it all connected to the JT and working. In the app I set my tire height and then followed the instructions. After a test drive up to 60 everything matched up.

Although from the videos online the steps for the Gladiator were completely different. I wish the developer would use multiple sentences to explain what needs to be done or what should happen.

not just........."Turn off open door close door wait 5 minutes"

I don't know.... couldn't you put "what" I am turning off, the car, the plug... do I leave it plugged in.... some kind of message that says done..... and maybe ok safe to unplug now?

I was really scarred that I was going to screw something up, but it looks to all be ok and working perfectly.

And for the comments above.... "I've never trusted the aftermarket programmers." I was nervous too but 10 minutes later it was unplugged and taken out of the vehicle two plugs retired to the factory spots and nothing left in the vehicle.

Also, I don't know if its easier in another trim but those plugs are a bi#ch to get in and out on the Rubicon.

The plugs can be a pain! I don’t know why but my JL Sport S doesn’t have the box in front of the plugs and it is much easier than the Rubicon and the Overland.

I’ve found it is easier to just use a finger to push the plug in and then press the release tab and pull gently on the wires to disconnect them.

Then why does it work that way with the JScan and StarScan once they're detached? The tire size, gear ratio, and T-case ratios are static changes to the ECM, and not "live functions", therefore theoretically they should remain changed in the ECM, whether the unit is unplugged or not.

I'm not talking about ALL the features of the Tazer, I'm talking about changing things that are ECM changes, like tire size, gear ratio, t-case ratio, LED lights, high beams w/ fogs... All these things change with a standard programmer and remain in the ECM once changed, without the programmer still attached. So, why does the Tazer not work the same way?

Ok, you can make changes with the Tazer then unplug the Tazer and the changes will stay in place, however, the Tazer is locked to that vehicle. You cannot connect the Tazer to another vehicle and make changes, you either have to pay for the unmarry service or unmarry the Tazer from the original vehicle.

One of the selling points of the Tazer is once unmarried it reverts ALL changes back to stock so when you take the vehicle in for service the dealer cannot tell any changes have been made.

I get that, but what I want to know is has anyone tried to change the tire size on another JT without marrying the Tazer to it?

Example, I can take my Smarty S67 Catcher and EFI Live V2 unit, and it can remain VIN-locked to my Cummins, but I can still plug it into someone else's and check and clear DTC's and adjust things like tire size without having to marry the unit to the 2nd vehicle. Why is the Tazer any different? Is it programmed to be different than that? Has anyone actually tried this so we know 100% for certain that it will not work that way, despite what we're assuming based on what ZAuto says. That's all I'm asking.

@Gregj; already said he tried it

COBB does the same thing with their accessports. You can do all the tuning you want with the married vehicle but it will not program another one unless it is unmarried. When you unmarry it reprograms the stock ECM settings (it will download yours or you can use the stock setting flash).

different programs are.....programmed differently
