I traded in a Ford F250 for my Gladiator. I don't need the big Ford, any more, since we sold the giant camper, but I still need something that will tow the boat. I wanted a Jeep (I've had a few, as has my wife), but the Wranglers are questionable for towing, and I still need to tote some plywood, now and then. The Gladiator is the truck I always wanted Jeep to build. I waited forever to get one, because of the price and the pandemic, but one finally came up with the features and color I wanted, so I pulled the trigger. Still stunned by the trade-in on my old Ford, which made it much easier to swallow the price on the Gladiator. That, and the difficulty in finding a Sport S, hard top, automatic trans, with tow package, in Punkin' orange, made for a long wait!

Had a 2012 JKU for eight years and never got tired of it, but it was getting up there in miles so traded it for the Gladiator, similar to what I had, but with a bed.

Well i have a 2021 Sport 4x4 in my guarge. The dealer did a swap to get this one, I said let me do the swap for you to really see how she drives, hour drive back, got up to speed, did very fine. Got back to the dealer kinda late so i drove the Gladiator home, haven't signed any papers. Sold my Wrangler on the spot. Really good day.
Let me ask this here as its late and i have to wake up early in the morning to take the Wrangler soft top in and finish the paper signing.
The offered what i understood as five more years so total 8 years of full warranty for $2000.00. Is this any kind of a deal? And a body seal and Scotchbrite the cloth for 450.00, i was tired and said ill thi k about it.
Would ya?

I’ve never bought an extended warranty on a vehicle. Most of what will go wrong will go wrong under the factory warranty.

New here but not to Jeeps. Ii have a 96 Cherokee Country and a 03 Wrangler Sport. They both run tip top.
I have been looking at the Gladiators since they came out but have not allowed myself to go look at them, untill yesterday. I have gotten old enough to say that one of these things cost more than my first house. Another side of me says you have worked and retired now and could afford one if you really wanted.
I found some to look at. All the different trim packages is a bit overwheming at first.
What has some of you done to justify shuch a purchase?
To justify the purchase? What are you going to do with your money in the future? You can't take it with you after you die. Somebody else will spend it all. Somebody else will work the job you had, live in your house, spend your money. None of this goes with you when you're gone. Enjoy life. It's short.

The economy is staggeringly good despite the pandemic (Thanks you President Trump!) and interest rates are super low. Dealers are hungry for sales. Go find a Gladiator you love and beat them up over it. The time is now. After next week everything may go to hell in a wicker basket depending on how this election goes.

For ME, no on the ext'd warranty.
No on the body seal - there are very good products that you can do yourself for likely less $$.
No on the fabric treatment, as I would be immediately going with some quality seat covers like Sportsman's Camo Covers or a similar product. (I have had several sets & like the material, one set still on my 2001 Super Duty I bought new)
Your results may vary!

Congrats on the new ride! :like:

I am in the same boat lol. Your justification is you are retired, you want it and you can afford it. I kept my 02TJ Sahara and Traded in my 02 GC because I want a Gladiator. I decided to order mine because if I am spending that kind of money I want to get it exactly the way I want it. I ordered mine through a dealer listed here in the forums (Koons) and way happy enough with the price to drive from NJ to VA to get my TREEP.

Need to know which of the 3 levels of Extended warranty, how many miles and what is the deductible to decided if its worth it to you. If you keep it in a garage year round I would skip the body seal or do it yourself.

They can do better on the warranty... im not a huge extended warranty fan but my dealer offered a 99yr 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty for less that $2k so had to do it..

Grew up dirt poor. Old crap cars. My mom would put a bucket under whatever $300 wonder we had that year to capture the oil and pour it back in the next morning. Hey, oil was expensive at 7-11, especially when she'd add in her pack of cigs!

As an adult, horse swapped vehicles often. Buy cheap, glue together, drive for a bit and move on before something major exploded again. Lots of old Wranglers in the mix of this. I loved them, just wished I could have one with under 125k plus miles on it.

By 2013 I'd done ok in life for a good number of years but still with the old Wranglers.

I finally said, "F this, I'm getting a new Wrangler."

I went with the "one at this price" Sahara end of year clearance.

In 2015 I get stuck in an ice/snow situation in it....slip sliding away! Best friend had a Rubicon JK and it could handle it.

In 2016 I sell the Sahara privately for amazingly like only 2 grand under what I paid for it new!

I then go buy the "one at this price Hard Rock Rubicon Wrangler.' Great rig, though I wished it had more options...that of course never seem to come with the "one at this price" deal. But, adding in all those options is crazy expensive, no way I can justify that.
I'm always dirt poor still in my head.

Well, hello Gladiator unveiling at the end of 2018. I've been drooling, looking, building on the Jeep site often. Steering issues and asses catching on fire from a shortage of lube put up them at the factory. Hmm, I'll wait a bit.

So, yesterday was an "F it" day. Seeing a peer/colleague in good health pass at 49 all of a sudden, looking at what 2020 has brought/been to many of us.

I went to the Jeep site, built my dream Gladiator. Every option and doo dad. YIKES, like 15k in extras?????

Color top and fenders as it's easier to find black ones if I want them later than it is to find a factory painted top and fenders for sale in my color or to buy some in another color or primed and then pay a body shop to try to color match them as best as possible.

Gas engine instead of diesel. That diesel just needs more time to prove itself. Too many issues when they put other gens of them in the Rams so far.

2021 full time 4x4 option as I travel a lot between states. And, I've been known to forget I'm in 4h for a few hundred miles now and again when out of snow etc on freeway.

Safety group/advanced safety group, side mirror indicators a must as if you've had a rental car with them, you realize they help.

Spray in bedliner because it's the same price to have the factory do it as aftermarket basically.

LED lighting again because I'm on the road at all hours often and it is better for seeing.

4 Auxiliary switches because once you go Jeep, you know you are going to add stuff! Rather just have it in and right from the factory as again, if you buy the switches later, the part costs about the same and you got to do all the work putting it in. I'd rather focus on adding fun items and just plugging them in to the wires already there.

Rubicon because, going back to my 2013 Sahara stuck in snow that a Rubi could handle as mentioned above.

Tow package since, while I'm not there yet, I plan on keeping this Gladiator a good number of years as it's exactly to my dream build and I may get that dream boat too someday!

Snazzberry color. Well, I've had a lifetime of gray, silver, white and black vehicles. Let's mix it up and go a little wild. Her name will be "Rubi Snazzglad" with the nickname of "Snazzy B" and the B will refer to Boy, Berry, Biotch, Bastard....depending on who is driving her. The order went in yesterday!

As for the price. UGH.

However, look back at your life, where have you scrimped, sacrificed, put others first. If you can still keep a roof over your head and food on the table after buying the exact Gladiator you want at this point in your life, don't you deserve it finally?

What justified it is that it is for my enjoyment. That and the fact i'm going to die one day soon. If you can afford it, go for it. life is short, take what's yours!

My uncle had a scrambler when I was a kid. Loved that truck. Always wanted one, so when I heard that Jeep was bringing the jt out I told the wife one would be in the driveway. Waited till about 2 months ago and jumped on a Sport S the dealership had put a small lift and few extras on that I fell in love with. Only thing is I wish I could still find an old scrambler that I could match up with it lol. Yeah I will probably find it soon and match em up nice. Just gotta find the right one.

Good luck with finding a Scrambler... you'll be paying about what you paid for the Gladiator for one.

There are a few threads here under the Ordering, Pricing etc that may be of help with regards to cost. Look for Daniel at Gupton Motors in Springfield, TN and Spencer at Spirit Lake Motors in Iowa.
Both give very nice discounts. Gupton up to 8% and Spirit Lake 5% off the invoice price of the vehicle if you order thru them. Also, may entertain selling on off their lot with the same deal. No hidden fees or surprises at either of these. I mention them as they are close to Indiana.

Also, there is a thread with a google doc Invoice cost of each trim level and each option you could want to add. Use the Jeep.com site to build it and can cost out your vehicle yourself.

I ordered from Gupton as he was closest and can make a Smokey Mountain get away for the wife and I when we fly up to get it.

Hope this helps....

Except to get to us in the smokies. Youll have to drive about 3 hours or so east.
