I was actually pretty impressed with the audio on the 7" screen system, in my Max Tow. They get alot of sound out of those little speakers. I did miss the low end I had in my Ram Alpine system. I tried the 8" Powered JL micro sub. But I would of had to do something drastic to my under seat rear storage, to make it fit, and I just did not want to do that to my new Gladiator. So I ordered up the JL Audio 6" sub and a kicker sub amp. This fit really really well. I ran a 4 Guage through the fire wall in the grommet under the fuse block, that block is a bear to remove, but it is done and now and I have power distribution in back. I am extremely happy with the sound. The sub is really deep and it can provide way more low end than any guy over 35 could ever want. I could feel the kick drum on the Stones beast of burden, at low volume. With the main system bass dialed back you can ask alot more of the stock speakers. I would not hesitate to do it again, like this

I tapped into the sound bar wires on the passenger side B-pillar. The kicker amp has high-level inputs and does an excellent job in cleaning up the signal.

How does this keep from draining battery? Looks excellent, i could be tempted to try this, just need to understand the wiring a bit more if you don't mind a bit of a walk through on that?

Why would an amp drain the battery. The amp gets a key on signal.to know when to turn on. I tapped into the 12v accessory port, but if you have the aux panel switches you can use those too, I wanted to save those for lights and pumps later.

Hoping to do something similar in mine. I do have the alpine package though. Thinking I’ll do two 6.5 subs facing forward in a custom box to replace that plastic piece. I have an old alpine mrv-m500 that has speaker-level inputs I will likely install under the passenger seat.

I almost went big and removed the plastic piece, but then I realized my kids and friends would accidently destroy anything not protected. You know how it goes. Not to mention I would loose my hat, glove and thermos storage lol. All in all I am extremely happy with the spl and sound over the last couple days. Surprised that little unit can do such things. JL never seems to disappoint.

I have the 8" microsub from JL and really wish it fit under the seat. I was planning to take the sub out of the box and create a fiberglass box for it, but I may get the 6 instead after seeing your post

The 8 would of took some work to fit, but I imagine the sound would be intense. I may be getting old but the 6 does not leave me wanting more lol.

1. Where'd you pick up your setup?

2. Thoughts on placing the amp behind the seat? Will it fit?

3. Thoughts on this super narrow 10 inch (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073W5PVMP/ref=psdc_1294866011_t2_B019Z3R582) compared to your 6 inch JL? A big enclosure, like the one on the JL makes sense to me. More room for expansion.

4. How would you rate the install difficulty from a stereo virgin? I saw a guy do this to his JL and it seemed pretty complicated: . Is it actually pretty simple and my virgin eyes don't realize it? Feel confident a local audio shop could do it without any issues?

I thought about going bigger with cheaper, but I am super happy I went for the JL. It completely lived up to its name and then some. The kicker amp does a better job than it should supplying a great signal. A competent audio shop should be able to pull this off. The part they may scrimp on is running the power wire . It is alot of work. If they do that I am pretty confident this is the best low end you can get with the most minimal modification to the gladiator.

I bought everything from Crutchfield. As far as the amp on the back wall, yes it will fit. I wanted to keep all my modifications to the plastic piece under the seat. 4 10mm and it came out pretty easy and I was able to fit everything up on it on the bench. I used clip nuts so everything comes in and out pretty easy. Also it is nice to be able to tune the amp with everything accessible. I moved my jack kit to behind the seat.
