Check out the rebates for your location also. Where I'm at, it's not unusual for the Overland to have a bigger rebate, which negates the difference in price or can even make it more attractive.

Yes, that was out the door. But was also a couple months into the covid lockdowns, while everyone was still in a panic... also it's 60month @ 2.4%. Really, the dealer was panicking

I'm biased, as I drive an O'land. I wanted the leather, as it is way easier to keep clean than cloth... just wipe down with a damp cloth, a few times a year detail it with leather conditioner. There are many other features I wanted, such as the Alpine audio, heated seats, etc.

I have used it as a truck. Last year hauling materials for our house remodel, I was picking up tile and flooring by the pallet... 35 cases of LVP (roughly 1,100lbs) will drop the rear about 3 inches...

Doesn’t the overland stock (auto) come with only 1125 payload without any options added? What is your door sticker payload? 1000 or less? I would think that you plus those 35 cases put your O’land a few hundred pound over your payload capacity which of course explains the 3 inch drop.

I ordered the Overland EcoDiesel. We use it as a daily driver and tow behind our Motorhome. On June 17th we will have owned it for 13 months and put on 22,300 mi.
towed many trailers with it and have enjoyed it immensely. The only time it's been to the dealer was for the FREE oil changes, NEVER had any trouble with it.
I optioned it out with the following.

How would that have put it "a few hundred pounds over....."?
If his was rated 1,100 pounds (which is possible, mine is rated a bit less) he may have been 100-200 over, depending on his own weight, but not hundreds. And no, these have soft springs. Check the drop test I did on mine over 2 years ago. These will drop quite a bit with STOCK springs with even only 500-600 pounds tongue weight on them.

I hauled a load of iron out - look at the weight hanging out the back, long iron thick-walled pipe, other scrap iron in the back.

Not sitting too bad, I'd say...........most of the weight over the axle, and a bit ahead of the axle..........

A few hundred pounds of car parts that followed me back home from Colorado Springs - starters, alternators, body and steering and suspension parts - here, I've started to unload already, this is what's left to remove after several things have already come out -

I've had a few trucks over the years. My 95 F250 4x4 was used only when I needed a truck, or when our other vehicles were in use, etc. so it didn't get many miles on it. I traded it in 2011 with about 80,000 miles on it. That's 16 years, about 5,000/year.

My 2011 Silverado - same thing. I used it when I needed a truck to haul stuff or tow stuff. Otherwise it wasn't driven a whole lot - once in a while as a "Driver" to keep miles off other stuff. I think I averaged about 6,500/year on the Chevy.

I bought this Jeep because I saw how seldom I actually drove the others, I didn't truly "need" a full-size V8 truck most of the time and I figured it would be the last truck I'd ever buy, putting maybe 6,000 miles/year on it like the others.
30 months in, I'm over 26,000 miles. It's become our "daily driver" especially in winter because it does almost as well as my wife's Grand Cherokees do, and my wife enjoys riding in this truck. Heck, she likes driving it on long trips, too. So when we go shopping, or to church, what do we take? Yeah, this truck. It used to be "are we taking the little red car" referring to my SX4, but now it' this truck.
It's a truck, but it rides like some cars, and not that far from her Grand Cherokees in riding comfort. Yet it tows and hauls.

I can go to Menards and load it up with 1,000 pounds of block, or bags of rock, or whatever, and it's fine. I've even had it loaded a whole lot heavier (although it was not planned, it was by accident)

Going over payload isn't a great thing, but 100-200 won't break it. There's soooooo many dozens of other threads, hundreds of other posts on that I won't take that out further.

Being over doesn't explain his 3" drop - even at 900 the Overland springs, designed for ride, would have been down almost that far. Check out my drop test thread from winter of 2019-2020.
Funny thing - I have MAX TOW springs under my Overland now and guess what 500 pounds of tongue weight does to it - yeah, drops it a lot. So much for max tow not dropping with weight LOL

Those who don't have Overland don't understand, of course those others - whatever THEY own is obviously the best. To suggest anything else would work is all but admitting they could have done better. No one will do that. So if they have a Sport S with max tow, nothing else matters, nothing else will work.
I find it interesting that the title is Sport S vs. Overland, but everyone assumes that Sport S means max tow. It does not - that's an option. You can get Sport or Sport S and not order the max tow option.
I have max tow springs under mine and I can drop that back a couple of inches pretty easily..........

psssssssssssst. geesh, my Chevy had a lot higher payload (1788), and it settled about like that with 1500 pounds of rock in the back.
Yours isn't bad at all.
That's why trucks have RAKE.
These are TRUCKS, the hard-core Jeep guys I think would like to forget that these are trucks and some of us use them as trucks, and I bought it because it was a truck (and a Jeep, of course)
There are springs back there, springs compress with weight. Duh, right? LOL

It’s really just a matter of personal preference. Choose whatever trim level you personally like and you think will make you happy. That being said, I don’t really see the benefit of going Overland. Unlike other trim levels like Rubicon or Mojave that provide significant upgrades, you don’t really get much from going Overland. You can get anything the Overland has on the Sport S (leather, heated seats etc…) and some options the Overland can’t, like Max Tow with the wider axles/4.10 gears etc… Some guys love theirs and that’s great. I personally think it looks like the grandpa Gladiator trim level with the wheels, tires and running boards. Not that there is anything wrong with that and truthfully a lot of guys replace them (like we all do). Just goes to personal preference.

Well now we know how high your nose is in the air LOL
Looks like the "grandpa Gladiator trim level" whatever that is. Heck, they look identical for the most part, aside from running boards that make it easier for kids and most adults to get in and out, and very much protect the sides and door hinges from rock damage.
You'll have to explain how it looks like grandpa Jeep.
Odd how the truck makers are marketing and selling the luxuries with their trucks these days. It sells.

You might want to rethink the "like we all do" - check out the threads and posts of all the people asking about tires for the 18" wheels - there's quite a few posts where people prefer the wheel and want other tires for it.

Ya know how RAM and Ford and Chevy are selling trucks now? With all of the amenities people want these days.

Significant upgrades? It's an upgrade only if they are required or you have a great want for them. I don't see them as upgrades. What about the Rubicon is an upgrade? Oh, the hood? Maybe the sway bar disconnect (which you can add later)

I like mine. I have my second one ordered, going back to the same thing.

Here's my grandpa Jeep - I've had the Rubicon wheels on this for several months, and frankly I didn't care for them. I can see why people replace SPORT and RUBICON wheels (but that's just me)

Sorry, I sense a bit of "attitude" there, my truck is better than yours, that sort of thing.
