The OP should change the title though. No one is trying to defraud anyone.

It's a simple request by the dealer. Go unhook the winch and let them do their job.

Can we get a mod to close out this thread and ban the OP? I believe that is quickest way to resolve this.
Oh please don't. Otherwise I'll lose my entertainment for the rest of the week.

Next time my boss tells me I have to do something in order for my project to move forward, I'm already prepared to tell him he's defrauding me.

Then you stop being emotional and irrational.
You've been given sound advice and you continually act like a 5 year old that had their binkie taken away.

No dealership service department is going to touch a non OEM part in order to analyze a vehicle under warranty. It's NOT their part so it's NOT their problem.

Drive to the dealership, ask the service advisor to walk out to the JT with you. While they watch remove the damned hot and ground cables for your winch, take some electrical tape so you can completely wrap the ends of both cables. Then ask him to do his thing.

OR, pick your JT up and drive it home, but throw your tantrum in private because you're embarrassing yourself here.

You only have those two options. Everything else you're whining about is going to do nothing but increase the abuse you get in this thread.

What STAR case refusal? They aren't refusing anything. You mean your refusal to disconnect a god damn winch?

They're literally trying to work on your truck. You're literally saying 'no'. Look in the mirror if you want to know more about the problem here.

Now let's get back to the more entertaining derailment of this doomed thread! It's much more productive than the original thread anyway.

So I’m going to be blunt with my opinion: I think you’re over reacting. Claiming STAR is defrauding you is not accurate based on what you’ve said. I sympathize with the situation, but let’s keep it realistic rather than blowing it out of proportion.

What the dealer is asking you to do is to remove electrical accessories that you installed in order to diagnose an electrical issue. That’s not out of the ordinary. Often times these added things get in the way of doing a proper diagnosis, and they aren’t allowed to mess with things added after the fact. So step one is to get them out of the way, and that is on the owner to do. If you refuse to do that, they won’t work on it. So the delay is of your making at that point.

Now, if they haven’t done a diagnosis yet, which you stated they refused to do, then how can you say they know the problem and are trying to defraud you? That doesn’t really add up. Have they expressed to you that they know the issue? If so, what is it? The winch may still be in the way of them doing anything. But by the sounds of it, they haven’t done any diagnosis. Please let us know if that’s different.

At the end of the day, you need to get the winch out of the equation. Just do that. If they attempt to deny a warranty claim after that, well that’s a completely different ball game then. But right now I think you’re just standing in your own way more than anyone is trying to “defraud” you. Work with your dealer, not against them. Or go to a different dealer. It’s all up to you.
I have to agree with this assessment. Additionally, if you continue to be the obstacle in the way of them making a diagnosis, you may incur additional expenses if they choose to have the vehicle removed as it's been abandoned, and you may incur tow and storage fees curtesy of your local wrecker service when they have it removed from their property. If you rub a cat's tongue the wrong way you'll experience resistance, of which you will lose. Never have I heard someone TELLING a dealer what they're going to do work. They will win the argument in that they requested you to do something and you refused.

My wife would strongly disagree with you.
Either way I respond could be wrong, so............ I won't. You might show your wife the response.
