So if it won't handle a crash but its necessary for a winch then what do you do if you need a winch?!

If that is the case and the steel bumpers do not meet the NHTSA 2.5 MPH bumper crash rating for the Gladiator, then there would be a recall coming down the line for what has already been delivered.
If the steel bumpers don’t meet the crash testing requirements how do you think the plastic bumpers will fare?

I don’t think that’s the issue...

Well the steel ones don't crumple like plastic ones right?

I don’t think that’s the issue...
The plastic bumpers actually have a thick steel subframe under the plastic cover. I do not see a similar structure for the steel bumper. Regardless I am not hanging my hat on that theory

I think the steel bumpers are due to a 3rd party shortage. You know "Jeep" doesn't make the dash, seats, carpet, or a zillion other do-dads in your "Jeep". thats my opinion of it.
