Steering and low idle in park

Hi all

I just noticed that my 26 Willys Gladiator while in park qhen I turn the steering wheel the pump activates and it idles lower for a second. Everytime I just nudge the steering wheel I hear what I believe the steering pimp to kick on.
Is this a common thing? In my experience when the steering wheel is causing a power drain enough to cause a low idle that either the pump is bad wiring or battery.....

Normal.

Your electric powersteering pump will kick on. It is a big load on your batteries and alternator.

If in doubt, charge your batteries over night and retest to see if things have improved. Could be weak batteries causing more alternator load.
