Maybe they’re trying to get ahead of the curve on the need for cams, rocker arms, and lifters for all the 3.6 Pentastar engines that are devouring them.![]()
Don’t have to tell you that sucks….sorry you’re having to go through this! I’d heard there’s a backlog on parts because so many are having this issue….still! It AMAZES me how long this “tick” issue has plagued this engine, and Jeep can’t seem to resolve it. The concerning part is there seems to be no guarantee it won’t happen again! Good luck.my gladiator has been sitting at the dealership for 2 months now waiting on cams. Dealer told me they are currently waiting for 11 to fix the vehicles they’ve just got sitting there. Mine was #6
What would the notice be about? Every manufacturer is going thru the same thing. It’s amazing that Stellantis hasn’t issued any sort of recall notice or whatever. I live in a rather small town and to hear there’s so many just locally with the issue is astounding. Can’t imagine the numbers across the US. I’ve been considering trading my gladiator in because I’m worried this is going to happen again and my warranty is almost up.
You’re right, it can happen with any manufacturer. Toyota went through a similar thing last year when they had issues with their Tundra engines. Of course the difference between them and Jeep is Toyota immediately addressed the issue, instilling confidence in their customers that they will make it right. They didn’t let the issue linger, for years literally, and that issue is now yesterday’s news for Toyota. What would the notice be about? Every manufacturer is going thru the same thing.
A notice would only scare consumers away. Perfect example…..You’re already worried.
It is what it is…and it sucks….but hold on, be patient….
There are many different ‘people’ running these companies and pushing buttons. Each and every company has a completely different way of doing things and they don’t always make sense (to the normal consumer). You’re right, it can happen with any manufacturer. I hadn’t heard about the issues with the Canyon, but I suppose better to delay a release if you know there’s issues. There are many different ‘people’ running these companies and pushing buttons. Last year….I don’t know WTF GM was doing ……The new generation Canyon was supposed to be introduced for 2024. I was looking to buy one.
In March 2024… they weren’t available to order and no-where to be seen on lots. They had one problem after another … I honestly don’t remember what the problem was (and I stopped caring). We got tired of waiting…and went out and bought the JT !!
The Canyon would’ve been a nice truck, but I’m much happier with the JT!
GM lost a customer….. because they didn’t get their shit together! I’m happier for it!
A few components come from Korea - Samsung, for example. There are Chinese items (think electrical connectors and many electronic components). Since 2024 engines and transmissions have been USA.I checked back on my MORONEY sticker and it read: For vehicles in this carline
61 % parts from US & Canada, 21 % from Mexico Which leaves 18 % from ????
No clue how the US/Canada parts are divided. So yes, an already pricey truck
will get even more expensive and perhaps scarce if parts don't materialize
Nothing to do with a Jeep shutdown.............. if you read the real cause, it was faulty connecting rods, etc. - they are throwing owners a bone and putting a BANDAID on their engines. That's not a fix it's to avoid a problem that shouldn't exist.Having seen numerous conversations on here, this should be fuel for the fire for those who feel 0w20 oil may be a contributing factor to the Pentastar issues,
Recall for what? Be specific. You realize there are millions of the Pentastars on the road - many years old with hundreds of thousands of miles. It sucks there are too many cam/follower issues, but exactly what would the recall be for and who would be affected? It’s amazing that Stellantis hasn’t issued any sort of recall notice or whatever.
