Well I still have the problem with my 23 Overland I bought new.The first year I took it to a Jeep dealer for the problem and they changed the fuel filler pipe but the problem still persisted.I took it back to them weeks later stating it was still burping up fuel. When I got the truck back they said the mechanic filled it with gas with no problem. The dealer then gave me a bill for the work plus the bill for the gas.I expected to pay for the gas but was unhappy they charged me for the service. They explained Jeep would not pay for it under warranty because they could not find anything wrong with it.I then called Jeep Cares which was a joke and they said there was nothing they could do about the charge. Jeep Cares is a worthless service and a waste of time to call.Is there anything else that could be done to correct this problem?I dread every time I go for a fill up and this is taking the fun out of driving the Jeep. For the price you pay for a Gladiator,Jeep should have a fix for this and no matter how many times I bring this to a dealer for this problem It should be covered under warranty. This is not only a pain in the ass but it is also dangerous.By the way I have tried numerous gas stations, held the pump handle at every different angle, pumped the gas fast, medium, and slow all with the same results.

The other day while I was pumping gas, I was not paying attention and looking the other way and when I was done I noticed there was gas on my fender but not enough to where it was dripping on the floor. I wonder if I am having the same burping fuel issue as you? I've added gas before without this happening, and will watch it closely the next time I fill it.

Please keep us updated and maybe try and record it so you can show it to the dealership when you take it in.

My Gladiator burped gas once so far in the 1.5 months I had it. I just filled up tonight and it didn't do it. The time before this is when it burped. I probably filled it up 4 or 5 times before that and it didn't do it. My 2005 did it all the time so I could never fill it up the whole way. I'm hoping I just had the nozzle in at a weird angle which caused it to happen.

I had this problem for months, either burp up a little, spit up a lot, or the pump auto-shutoff long before the tank was full and I could hear gurgling as the gas went down the tube over the next few seconds.

The trick seems to be to have the nozzle as deep as possible, and then rest the nozzle full down on the filler tube. The angle is the same as you have to use with the new 6 gal. portable tanks with the release that catches on the filler neck. 1 gal. might be the same.

Oh, and I use paper towels from the gas station as a preventative bib.

Old problem too...

This ^^^ I have to hold the nozzle all the way in and hold it up, and listen for when it gets to the top. It's a pain but it works. My Glad won't spit fuel all the time. But I filled up a few months ago at a Shell station that had the new rubber boots , that fit completly around the fill pipe hole and seals it. The other ones just sit about 1 "to 2" to high. Jut keep a lot of wax on the fender.LolMy 2012 Liberty spit gas also.

Price = Quality thing probably has not been relevant since the 1980's. Higher price nowadays just means more complication and more problems.

I get the frustration though regardless.

I can honestly say I’ve never had this issue in any vehicle, since I read where in modern vehicles that have fumes/vapor recovery systems to prevent pollution, when you fill up it’s highly advisable you don’t “round up” after the nozzle cuts off, at most wait a while to add enough to round up many a dimes worth then stop. What can happen over time adding $.25-.$50+ cents to get to the nearest dollar amount, is you can fill up the system with fuel/gas, that will cause a few issues, possibly the one you’re experiencing. The only way to fix it is replace the entire variety recovery system. Good luck.

You don't have to round up for a Jeep to burp gas. It can happen at any time filling when it gets close to full. Jeep has had this problem for a long time .

Yup, burp/spit happens, at least to mine, before the auto-shutoff, not as a result of topping off.

When the nozzle cuts off is when it burps up.I can hear the gas when it is coming up the filler tube and release the handle but it burps up anyway.

Filled the JT up this weekend, no burping. I think it was how I was holding the nozzle as I was filling it, bad angle.

Remember, they will not burp everytime. I can go 1 to 2 fill ups with no burping, then a few in a row. Unless I hold the hose and stop it before it tops off.

Rarely have this issue. Maybe it's the stations, or the way mine was built. I just insert the nozzle, let it hang, and take my hand off.

My 2021 Overland has done this since day one. Doesn't seem to matter how I position the nozzle. I have become good at estimating how much gas it will take based on the needle position on the gauge - I then watch the pump and slow down the flow manually when approaching my estimated fill. I also listen closely to hear when the flow is coming up the filler tube and stop manually. I hate some of the new pumps that play advertising and loud music when you pump the fuel! My hearing is no longer that good.

I have to take the nozzle out about an inch or the cut off will activate as soon as I start pumping. I'm sure you've tried that though.
