Took my Gladiator on a trip out to Florence, OR this past week to check out the dunes and beach access from Siltcoos OHV area. This was a bit of an exploratory mission as I hadn't driven on sand prior to this. At least I knew to air down LOL. The trip provided me with an excellent "baseline" for what the stock Mojave can do with no modifications, and I was very impressed to say the least. This thing is ready to play in the sand box right from the factory! I just wish the forum would let me upload a video longer than 10 seconds LOL.

Does anyone else feel like their Jeep purchase exceeded their expectations?

Offroad + really makes it special, especially in the sand.

Like a duck in water... Just meant to be! Now I'm looking forward to many more dune/beach trips.

Heading up some of the dunes there I could certainly appreciate the throttle response / gearing from OffRoad +

I love driving on the beach. One tip that may help—one of the beaches I drive has a 20 mph speed limit which is right between gears. Move it over to the "fake manual" and shift to where you want the RPMs.

Also, you can override the system to lock rear diffs in 4H. (OffRoad+, hold down traction control until you get a beep, lock the diff. Have to be under 5 mph (for me). The other option is to buy a Tazer. I got one and can lock the diff in 2H (not sure for what) and 4H but have to be stopped.

Thanks for the tips! I found exactly what you are talking about with the gearing- beach speed limit is 25mph where I was and I felt like I was constantly between gears. I will definitely keep that manual-matic tip in mind for next time on the dunes.

I've seen a lot of group members post about Tazers- any negatives that you have found? One thing I liked about my ZR2 Colorado was that I could lock the rear diff in 2WD and do some high speed runs and better donuts LOL. It sounds like the Tazer product would enable me to do that.

The Tazer is very easy to program. The only real issue is getting to the SGW plug. It is way up under the dashboard. I highly recommend the extension wire that you can add on so that you only have to get up in there once. I had to get my wife to plug it in with her long, skinny fingers.

I probably changed 15 settings and love the changes. One is turning off the seatbelt dinging. I don’t need a seatbelt on the sand! Also, it automatically kills the license plate light when you put it in reverse so you don’t have the glare. I also set it so the backup camera comes on when my turn signal is on. I live on the beach and there are a ton of bikers during tourist season. Good to see if one is coming up before you turn. Many other tweaks. I love it…..well, I love pretty much anything Jeep related. LOL.

I love that area. We used to go out there all the time along with quite a few spots on the Coast.
