Instead of buying a mod, has anyone looked at the pinout to see which ones to connect? I'm a newb to Jeep, but with computers I've used wires, graphite, and electrical tape to get added performance, capability, etc. Can't we just pull the plug off, connect a couple pin receptacles, and reinforce with electrical tape? I forget to push the button.

Not even close! Modern systems aren't just on/off switches. The switch sends a signal across the bus - a network of sorts, and commands a module to perform a function. Tying wires or pins together can make a real mess.

No one wants to start hacking into these things - nothing but trouble if you do. It ain't your grandfather's Jeep as far as electric systems.

Besides, we use proper connector shells and pins and crimp tools and make sure everything is sealed against water - like factory.

RGR, understand. I know, with computers (showing my age here), when dealing with northbridge and southbridge buses there were capabilities that were software-based, but some you could still jump/short on a circuit board (motherboard, ISA, etc). The ESS just seemed on/off to me. Thank you for the info.

Hello folks, I finally ordered this today and I am very excited about this mod. Ever since I replaced the batteries in my Gladiator the stupid stop/start has been driving me crazy. I usually never remember to disable it till the Jeep dies at a stop sign or when I'm sitting in a drive thru line. Looks like a simple plug and play install.

I purchased my '24 Jeep Gladiator Sport brand new in May of this year, and the Start/ Stop feature never worked. When I scrolled through the screens on the dash, it would always display "Start/ Stop Not Ready." Well, after I read your post yesterday, I came to a stop, and low and behold; the Stop/ Start feature kicked on for the very first time. I don't know if my system received an update, or what; but now I finally have to push the deactivate button for the first time in over 4 months.
I'm glad you posted this part, because I'll definitely be ordering one!

So the start/stop eliminator arrived today. It was a super simple install and its working great so far. It remembers the last setting, so now I can decide whether or not I want to use it. Thanks for everyone's comments whether for or against the mod. I enjoyed the back and forth banter. After all we should all be allowed to voice our opinions, that's what makes this country great!

hey, I had an early IBM PC clone, 8088, no co-processor, and later expanded memory with a Zuckerboard.
Rows of memory chips before they came in memory arrays and cards, figure out which chip was responsible for the memory error.
And the Maxtor, WD, Seagate and other drive brands - the various drive types, when a 200 meg hard drive vibrated on a table.
I think I've been through almost every bus type the PC has experienced, EISA, ISA and several I forget. Green screen, amber screen, CGA, VGA......... ugh.

Simple mail (smtp) before email was a thing. It was in the green screen days.

Nope. Double checked this morning.
It was also one of the first things I noticed because I was used to it in the Challenger.

I can't get used to these jeep wipers! I'm used to everything on the left, because right is for shifting!

You have numbers? I don't have numbers. Did someone hide my numbers?
do you have the red and blue up and down arrows? either side of the center knob?
i had no idea gladiators had different climate controls.
either way fan 3 or above should do the trick.

Yes, I have the buttons.
And I tested both on the climate screen and others.
There has to be some difference, because some have dual zone.

The start stop eliminator is simple to install. The problem with the Tazer is if you don't open and close the door the right amount of times you end up with a dead battery.
Its not about opening and closing the doors. After making changes you must reset and complete 1 sleep cycle, essentially a reboot (where the door story comes from) a sleep cycle can be made even without doors on

if you venture over to the JL forum folks are "hacking" the canbus there is a entire section on it. however unless you reallly know what you are doing its not advisable. The tazer is essentially doing the equivalent

I can do a lot of other stuff for the price of a tazer - as I'd only ever use maybe 1 or 2 things it does, nothing else.
For that price, I have the bypass cable, a BT adapter, JSCAN and AlfaOBD, and money left over (and nothing sitting adding to the crazy parasitic draw these have right from the factory)
What do think the parasitic draw is?I just switched from a 4 amp battery Tender to a 1 amp battery tender and seems to be keeping up.
