I got these from Overland Outfitters. I left the net in place, but it could be removed. The pocket adds nice storage. These are heavy duty canvas and well made. I got tired of waiting on the guy that makes the JK Pockets. He kept saying ”next month” for over two years now. I’m happy with this one.

Do you have a link by any chance?

Interesting that there's one person or outfit making those JK door cubbies, and that for the JL, there's only the rears! For the front it's a cub holder, take it or leave it, but for the rears where no one ever sits, there's nice cubbies for the rear doors. WEIRD. Keep the kids happy, the heck with the adults up front?

I have wondered about something you show here - since my wife only has one hand to use putting things in storage or reaching and taking them back out, if it would be possible to make something rigid to put inside the vinyl ones to keep them open and make them work like a standard door cubby piece.
If I had a 3d printer, I guess one could even be made - but I don't and am clueless as to how they even work or how to use them, and it's not something I'm interested in buying.

Anyway, something like that, with a printed plastic insert to make it more like a real cubby.
Hmmmmm
Wonder if we could hire someone to make such an insert. Have to look into that.

If I found the plastic pieces like I was hoping, I might remove the netting because those have no backs, but for something that has a "back side" I'd leave the netting - more hassle to remove it than it's worth.

Just sharing a potential link. Check this guy out on jeepforum.com. https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/jls-in-india.4370781/#post-40736847

jscherb - He has designed and made a ton of items that have gone to production by various companies. There might be something he has in the works or has already designed. Some of his stuff is on quadratec and Northridge by whatever company bought the plans - and some of it is hard to find because it's bought and made by lesser known companies. Not sure if he does or does not have anything. Just thought it might be a potential.

Go to Overland Outfitters web site. They make all kinds of cool canvas and leather storage bags that attach all over the Jeep, back of seats, door panels, roll bars etc. They are heavy duty and very well made. I did have a plastic bin in that door pocket for awhile but took it out. You could put all kinds of bracing in the pocket to hold it out, but it has a divider built in .

here's a man who's been married apparently a long time, or just clicks really well with his spouse.
Both - 34 years and yes.

I like being creative (as well as supportive) and find ways around her handicap. I had great interest in the stuff the adaptive equipment guy in our agency came up with now and then.
And right now she's got a severe issue with her left shoulder, which is her only arm that can reach anything making it harder to reach up or behind or press on anything. So also trying to delay the deterioration of that problem. She's in a peck of trouble if she loses that left shoulder.

Your concern is why I was hoping for first-hand experience as if it's sticking out too far........... there is limited space and for some, even the door strap rubs the left leg.

That one is just a bottle holder for the front doors, and they reserve the full cubby for the rears.
Looking for full cubby for fronts.
Storage for stuff - not cup holders.
@ShadowsPapa I have these on order.

will be able to give you a heads up when installed. Only issue I see is that there isn’t a lot of actual storage space without adding some sort of molle bag.

Yeah, all those do is replace the net with something rigid. Still no real storage except for flat stuff.
Bummer, but the concept is good.
If they had any shape to them, if they were made more like a pocket.........
I'd probably knock about 1" off the top as how they look in the pics the arm rest area almost interferes with getting into the top of them when installed. (and get them unfinished and powder coat them myself in purple)
Would be interesting to see them installed to see how much clearance there really is. The pics don't tell a lot.

 $50 for 1 plastic cupholder!! That's rich.....literally.
That's also one of the last places I'd want a cup holder. (and would be impossible for my wife anyway)

It looks like it would be easy to knock off the top row of holes, then mock of a spacer and use longer screws to attach it. The spacer would have to be solid so stuff doesn't fall out the bottom.
Then again, it might just be easier to start from scratch, depending on tools available.

I too love how in tune SP is with his wife, and proactive in making things better for her. IMNHO, that's how a husband should be.
Sorry I have no easy answer, though I hate those stupid nets too. Always catching the top eyelets of my workboots on them.

Just running my brain and mouth here, but how about your local gun holster guy? I bet something exactly like you want could be made out of kydex. Leather too, but more expensive. It could even conceivably be molded to be thinner in the area near her feet, or maybe moved up a bit over them. Molded to fit just what she wants there. I might have to go out to mine and sit in it to see if that's even a viable idea.

Very true.
Not a lot of room designed into the doors. Have to get creative to cut a pocket into the door behind the net to make room for more goodies.

I don't know how far ShadowsMama moves the seat up, but I keep mine pretty far back and even then I don't think there is enough length where the width would allow for a compact umbrella. before you get to the knob to adjust the seat and then the seat back lever.
For perspective, that's a thing of antiperspirant next lumbar knob in the net, and an electric razor in front of it (Before I retired last month, I drove about 650 miles a week so I felt like I lived in my Gladiator sometimes), so not much more than mebbe an inch of width between knob and door panel at that point. You could mold kydex to widen above it, but it would have to be like that for the full travel of the seat, and you wouldnt be able to adjust the lumbar without opening the door. Maybe there would be room if you made the umbrella right in the front and vertical?

I am beginning to think a custom kydex replacement for the net is going to be the only way to really get what she needs.

LOL - She's probably 5'4" but moves the seat almost all the way forward. I can't even get in a vehicle she's driven and you should have seen the sales guy when we went back to the dealer with it to get the mats. He insisted that he'd install them, he'd run her Jeep into a warmer room just off the main showroom and put them in. We watched as he tried really hard to not move the seats, at the expense of a painful bump on his head.
We had talked when buying that sure would be nice if there was at least a power seat option for the driver seat - make it handicap accessible, etc. and how it was nice with the GC - if I have driven, I press 1 to put the seat and things back for her, when I drove, I hit 2 to move it way back for me. We felt sorry for the poor guy - he's not a short small fellow, either and almost our age.
Dang, now I have to go look up kydex! LOL

There's a lot of room under the seat. The umbrella should fit there. You could find or fashion a pocket or cubby for access from the side to keep things from rolling around.
