Strange noise coming from the rear of truck.

This only happens when I am leaving for work in the morning. I back down my driveway and cut the wheels to turn while still in reverse and a strange sound comes from the rear of the truck. It almost sounds like brakes but it happens without my foot on the brakes and the wheels are turned. The sound isn't squeaking or grinding but more of a loud howling sound. This might have already been talked about but I figured I would reach out.

they all howl as far as I know. Its the transmission i was told. My mojave and my Aunt's rubicon have wind/howl when backing up at speed, especially when the trans is still cold.

I just noticed this recently and its not necessarily at speed, I can stop while still turned and start to back up and it howls the same.

to clarify, it only makes noise when you move? or makes noise even when stopped?

idk, it sounds like your talking exactly about what i hear with both my gladiators. If it made that noise moving forward I'd assume a wheel bearing issue. Did it just show up?

Yes this just recently started happening, its almost like the parking brake is still partially set.

I have set and reset it multiple times in hopes of that being the issue.

My parking brake cable stretched after a few uses when i first got it, I wonder if yours is too tight or got stuck.

Any luck @DadSwagx4? My truck makes this noise going forward and reverse and dealership can't figure it out. Only moving slowly and while turning. Added power steering fluid and changed differential oil and added friction modifier to it. Still doing it.

I have an 80th anniversary model which is basically a sport and overland mixed so I'm pretty sure it's a limited slip. Why do you ask?
