I have seen a couple of post about plugging the hole in the bottom of the tail gate where the camera wire loom comes out, I thought that I would share my fix. I bought a roll of heavy-duty foil tape, high stick, rubber back and cut it into strips and covered it, simple and effective, it worked better than I really thought it would..

I haven't looked at mine, but you should make sure that's not the only way for water to drain out.
the gate does have several weep holes in it, and when I pulled the inspection cover off I found that 2 of the holes were plugged with wood chips (I use wood heat) so it was definitely worth the $4 for the tape.
