To me, tire prices were already high & I've been reviewing reports & testing on tires in anticipation of purchase of another set this year.
Now with the 25% tariff on off shore produced tires I'm looking for something in stock now or waiting a year & purchasing domestic. Anyone know what is a 100% domestic production tire. Comments and suggestions?

there's a problem there - they may be "assembled" or "made" in the US - but where do some of the raw materials come from?
About 40% of the "rubber" in a tire is natural rubber. (the rest is synthetic, from petroleum products)
Carbon black, nylon, steel and a few other things make up the rest.

Just because a tire is made in America doesn't mean they don't source the raw materials, machinery, or equipment from overseas. Expect all prices to go up, not just imported stuff.

Also... lets say a US made tire had its cost to produce go up 7% for the reasons listed above... but now all the competition is 20% more expensive. You really think that extra 13% is going to be savings to the consumer? Cause in my line of work you jack your prices up 15% and enjoy your 8% extra margin while still undercutting the competition.

This. Domestic "made" things will go up. Imported things will go up.

If you want to truly save money, don't spend it.

Trump is working to get zero tariff deals with many nations. Asian nation will be hit the hardest so they will likely deal with Trump asap. He will not give in to China and will play hardball with Europe. I think prices on many things will soon return to pre-tariff rates. Interesting times we are living through.

I was not trying to create an issue or start a political argument I just thought I would defuse the fear of price increases that may likely never happen. I guess that I may not be as paranoid as I should be.
