Was trying to resolve the license plate lights staying on during reverse and noticed a new version (11.4.7) was available. Used ZPU auto updater to install and sure enough it failed.

Last time I used recovery mode to fix it. This time it remains stuck in bootloader after numerous recover/manual install attempts on both Windows and Mac.

Interestingly the Windows app says “Null firmware selected” as it attempts recovery, only to exit shortly after.

Hoping to get a response from Z Automotive tomorrow, but wondering if anyone has seen this.

I had similar problems maybe a month back when I went to update. I don't know what version specifically, had to borrow my dad's Mac book and play around with it for a while. I eventually got the new version loaded, but I did get stuck in the boot loader mode for a while. I ended up having to download the raw file and do a manual update instead of using the auto update button(that took a couple tries too)

Looks like it may be a known issue with the latest firmware? Or something...apparently an engineer is on it, so hopefully can get an update/fix soon. I'm glad that even as a brick, it's just a pass-through (and at least most of the features I care about are stored vehicle settings).

As far as I know, the latest Tazer update is mainly just for compatibility with their new NoLimitz device, and one small bug fix with the winch anchor mode. The 11.4.6 firmware has been out for 1-1/2 years.

Yea, 11.4.7 is probably irrelevant for most. Only reason I (regrettably) picked it up is because I was hoping to sort out the license plate blanking issue and just wanted to start from a clean slate.

I've been going back and forth with Z Auto (over email) for the last week on this. They are certainly trying, but this feels like a local issue that is affecting the ZPU app itself to some extent.

Hopefully we can get to a resolution...

No idea what actually fixed it, but I finally got it resolved. I ended up taking it out of the truck and working on it from my desktop PC.

Interestingly, the status light wouldn't come (although initially I didn't know it would). I tried multiple rounds of recovery attempts and manual attempts (using 11.4.6 and 11.4.7). I let it sit on the recovery stage for 5-10 minutes, despite Windows reporting 0% CPU activity on the app. Then...a sign...the LED was blinking 4 times. The app still wouldn't recognize it, so I figured it was a fluke. Did more rounds of recovery attempts...status light didn't want to come back on until...finally, randomly it started blinking green again.

At long last, the app recognized the Tazer and reported it was running 11.4.7, and I could even access/update the light show config settings.

Re-installed it, but couldn't access the menu...so I did a 2 sleep cycle reset...friggen finally: the menu was back, and the dash reported it was running 11.4.7.

I guess this just requires god-level amounts of patience and luck.
