Okay JT People, who has installed a Tazer Mini in your 2026 Gladiator? First Hand expirence only, please.

1. How easy was it?
2. How is it working?
3. What settings have you changed from the stock setttings?

Backstory: I've owned 2 JT's and 1 JLU (all were 2020s), prior to my current 2026 JT Rubicon X. My one & only Tazer Mini worked in all of those so I kept it for my current truck. Since buying my 2026 JT, I have heard mixed results (mostly on Podcasts) that "they don't work" without some other devices and/or "cheat codes". Thus I want to know your exact first hand expirences. The people saying this have only been quoting other people, not talking about their own expirences.

On a different & much simplier note, am I wrong that the new plug in spot(s) is easier to get to? (See pics below) I think I've spotted it, but thus far not done it... I've only got 1,500 miles on my truck so I am kinda waiting a while to make sure it's in tip-top shape before I (potentially) screw it up. I don't know why this time around I am nervous, but I am.

Have I contacted the Tazer Mini customer service? Yes. Of course, they say it will work... I wouldn't expect anything else from them tho.

Interested also- I just purchased a “Lite” version for when I upgrade to 35’s.

Have one in both the 2025 JTR, and the 2026 JLU. Works fine in both, just make sure you are up to date on firmware.
I will say it was way harder to do on the Rubicon because of all the other stuff under the dash the JLU doesn't have (Alpine audio, power inverter, etc). I've had Tazer JL's on 4-5 different Jeeps, and the 2025 JTR is the first time I broke down and bought the extension cable because I NEVER want to have to try and reach the SGW again.

Does the Tazer require that it be left plugged into the vehicle at all times, or is it a Program and Remove type of device? Does it leave the OBDII port free when plugged in? I'm completely new to this type of device. I've been using Ford ForScan for the last 11 years, so needing anything more than a cord and a laptop is foreign to me. Thank you very much!

I’ve had one in my 2024 Mojave X for a couple years now.
The install is a pain in the ass because the plugs are WAY up inside and lots of shit in the way. YOU NEED the extension cable. You plug/unplug the tazer into the extention cable - it’s quick and easy. Just that first install is rough….unless you have small hands. 😆

Most people (including myself), leave the Tazer plugged-in all the time.
No laptop needed and it does not plug into the OBD port.
You change the settings directly from your dash screen.

Note - There is a specific process in plugging & unplugging these things (aka sleep cyces). If you don’t follow the process precisely, can cause issues and battery drain. The instructions from ZAutomotive are horrible - I’ve written my own instructions so its easier to follow.

Sounds like yours is a few years older…. You might want to research to see if your older version is compatible with the newer vehicles. Did the plugs stay the same or no?

So, the Extension Cable only makes it easier to reconnect the SGW harnesses, when returning to "stock" configuration. At no point while using the Tazer, are the extension cables being used. Am I understanding that correctly?

While I'm here, I should ask...Tazer vs JSCAN? All I'm looking to do, is to disable much of the noise that modern Jeeps make - such as the horn honks and the beeps and bloops. The MAJOR thing is to be able to engage the rear lockers in 2WD. Do I need a Tazer permanently attached for all that, or can I get away with JSCAN? Thank you for any info you can provide!

I've had my Tazer in my 22 for a few years now and never updated it or even un married it for a dealer visit. Once in a great while it will loose the ESS setting so I just re do it. I don't play with it.

Correct. The extension plugs into the SGW. The Tazer plugs into the oem harness in place of the SGW. If you remove the Tazer, you plug the oem harness into the SGW extension. Truthfully, some need it, some don't. It depends mostly on what options your Jeep has, and also a little on just how small and flexible you are or aren't. If you have the premium Alpine stereo, and the 120v inverter, you will probably want the extension, because some of those components are in the way under the dash, and after one time doing it you will NEVER want to try and reach that SGW again.. If you are a large person or just have fat fingers, you may want the extension.

If you look at the instructions, all the vehicle settings can be done, and then you can remove the tazer. All the live features require the tazer to remain installed for them to work. The live features are where the tazer shines. Jscan or other programmers can't do those things.

I installed my old Tazer Mini into my New 2626 Gladiator today. Yes, I updated the tazer device software from the Tazer website before installing the device onto my truck.

Any guesses why it says the outside temperature is 118° ?

It's hot at my house today, but not that hot. I'm wondering if this is so sort of error code.... like something happened to my device since uninstalling it ( about a month ago) from my 2020 Gladiator.

Update 1: I pulled it into the garage until tomorrow. Like I said outside (August), plus I've had my fill of transfering my old JT stuff to the new JT. About 15 minutes later I decided to take a peek at what the JT thinks the tempature is in the garage. It said 144° outside tempature. Ha & Yikes! I know it's hotter in there, but NO WAY it is 144°.

Update 2: I decided to take it for a drive & see what happens. When the engine starts up, it is down to 114°. At least it's going in the right direction.

As I am driving along about 40mhp, the outside temp displayed on the radio screen keeps dropping, one degree every 2-3 seconds. It eventually, after driving for a few minutes @ 60mph, it dropped down the the actual tempature of 87° which matched what my locale TV Station app says.

Whew! Just thought I'd share, incase one of you see some strange tempature readings when you install a Tazer product.

How do you get the engine temperature to display? I could swear that the first time I drove it, there was a number displayed above the gauge, and the number was 212, which made me think, damn, these things run hot (My F150 would rarely go above 199). I haven't seen it since, and I would like it back. Thank you!

I was talking about the outside ambient air tempature. Like what the weatherman talks about.
