Hey all,

Finally got me a tazer mini so I could change tire size after installing 35s.

Unfortunately, now that I have married the tazer and changed the tire size, every time I start the truck the dash display defaults to the Audio menu.

I know it's petty, but it's really annoying having to cycle through all the menus to get back to the speedometer every time I get in the truck. This happens with or without the tazer plugged in, since it's been married to the vehicle.

Hopefully someone here knows how to fix it and can enlighten me?

It's been my experience that "tribal knowledge" is typically more reliable than customer service teams, but worst case scenario I will drop them a line, thanks.
Tazer's customer service is pretty good. Specifically over text, there's a number floating around somewhere. Whatever your Tazer is doing isn't normal. Definitely reach out to them.

The "tribal knowledge" here says that 9 times out of 10, the issue with a Tazer is a failure to follow the directions to the letter. If you don't exactly follow the reboot and sleep cycle procedures in the directions, all sorts of random stuff can happen.

CALLED IT. Thats what I get for slapping this thing in and rushing a change before heading off to work. I COMPLETELY missed that part. I read enough into the instructions to see what buttons control the menus then I was off to the races.

Im going to unmarry it this afternoon, then remarry it and change the tire size again but follow the reboot and sleep cycle process after each step.

Appreciate the tip! On the off chance this isnt simply me being an idiot, Ill look up that number.

Make sure you do all of the software updates, or you won't have all of your options.

Welp, time to contact customer support. Unmarried, full reboot, two sleep cycles - then married, full reboot, two sleep cycles - issue still present.

Unmarried, full reboot, OEM module plugged back in, multiple sleep cycles, still getting this nonsense every time I start the truck.

Contacted customer support and it says they're out of office. Going to try disconnecting the 12v battery this evening see if that helps anything.

Just to make you feel better, I can at least confirm that it doesn’t happen to me, so there should certainly be a solution. I installed mine last week and had a few quirks already. I initially enabled the passenger heated seat when remote starting. With that setting on, the passenger heated seat won’t turn off. That’s one of several examples so far. I get that the Tazer is nice for tire size and gearing, but I otherwise hate it. Too many things don’t work as well as stock. I’d prefer simple and reliable.

I appreciate that. I did goof by NOT doing the full reboot / 2 power cycles after changing the tire size originally, but then when I un-married it was supposed to go back to stock and.. it didnt. The problem stayed. Thats where I started really stressing out. Its one thing if the tire size change didnt work right since I didnt reboot, but now this thing has goofed my dash and the un-marry feature that is supposed to fix it, is not fixing it. This does not inspire confidence in the product. I tried pulling the ground for 1/2 hour and then reconnecting it after the unmarry / reboot shenanigans but no dice.

All things considered, it could be worse. It will be super annoying having to press the buttons 5 times or whatever every time I start the truck to get back to the speedo, but everything else is functioning as its supposed to, and the truck does drive a lot better with the tire size changed via the tazer.

It makes me very uncomfortable that something isnt working right though, and that ill have to deal with it every time i jump in the truck. Knocks my anxiety up to 11. I did check and I have 11.3.2 firmware, maybe if I update the tazer to 11.3.4 (newest version) it will un-break whatever is going on here.

Edit: Not to mention the fact that this will throw a red flag if I bring the vehicle to the dealer. So much for unmarrying before service to avoid issues.. good job tazer..

I finally did the following:

Unmarried
Updated to 11.3.4
Married
Set tire size and gear ratio
Did full reboot while constantly holding down the stupid left arrow
Verified that the two changed settings held
Turned ignition to off and opened the door to shut down
Turned it back to run without ignition again
Then off with door open a second time
Then started and disabled brake hold, which enabled itself. Dammit
Then drove around my neighborhood five times to make sure nothing was acting weird.
That was before I found the weird heated seat issue mentioned earlier

Now it seems mostly normal. But I’m really considering leaving it married for the tire and gear settings, but unplugging it so none of the other BS will bother me.

Does it do the same thing even while the tazer is unmarried? Or only once you married it again? I'd definitely start with updating the tazer, though
