Driving my grandfather into 'town' in his 68 CJ5. I could barely see over the steering wheel.

My first Jeep, 98 TJ hardtop, ordered bestop softop with full soft doors, drove around with the top down and only the bottom of the soft doors, never knew what I was missing until that very moment (also cemented the idea that I’ll never be without a Jeep)! ?

When I was about 15, I did some trading with my uncle and got a 45CJ2A that he brought back from the dead. I rigged up some seats out of a ford maverick or something out of a junkyard. Kept that little Jeep for years. Later on, something came up and needed money... at the urging of my wife the little Jeep was sold. Fast forward to today, I have a new Jeep and no wife.:cwl:

So many...I had a '95 YJ that I got in high school. Sold it in 2007...Just got back into the Jeep game this year with my '22 JTSD.

  • I remember driving my granddad around in that '95. I had just gotten my driver's license, and took him out for a spin with the top down. He loved it. Passed away that fall. Glad I could share that with him.
  • My HS girlfriend and I used to spend our weekends cruising all over the county - meeting up with friends in various cattle fields, down by the river, etc. Gravel road warrior. So many good memories from HS.
  • I remember flipping my Jeep on its side in heavy snow freshman year of college trying to go skiing with some buddies. I also remember flipping it back onto its wheels and driving it 2 hours back home.
  • Lots of other female passenger adventures in my early 20's that I won't go into detail about here...
  • Now with my '22 JTSD - my current favorite is how much my 2 kids love to ride in it. They go to YMCA summer camp down an old back road down by a creek - They're the envy of their friends when they get picked up in my lifted truck. My 5 year-old daughter literally has to climb in. They get mad when we take my other car. Only "the Truck," will do.

Haven’t had mine for too long and don’t take it off-road too much. Maybe 3-4 times now. But as of last week this was definitely my most memorable thus far.
High centered on Trail 51 at Windrock. Had a blast though.

Driving my TJ right after the Blizzard of ‘97 in Denver….2-4 feet of fresh white powder as far as the eye could see. I had studded snows on the TJ….

My 76 CJ7. Had it for 25 years and eventually just used it for the beach for fishing and to just hang out. So much sand on the floor it rotted out. It had a hand throttle and short bucket seats so we could sit on the seat back and steer with our feet. When 4W got so popular the Bach looked like a parking lot. used to be almost empty for miles. Too many people ruined the place. Had to finally junk it when the frame rotted. First dated my wife in that rig. Got to get a pic and post it. Great times.

Got a bunch but two stick in my mind.

My parents came to visit in 2009. I took them off-road in my JKU. Mom had an absolute blast and was like a kid. She passed about a year later from cancer and I will always treasure that little trip.

The other involved a blue eyed blond from Athens, Georgia. :)

My favorite Jeep memory is also my oldest Jeep memory, from about 1955:

After my father was discharged from the US Navy, he went to work as a civilian employee at the Long Beach (California) Naval Shipyard. I remember riding with him in a Jeep that was painted battleship gray, to Dana Point, about 50 miles down the coast. The Jeep was loaded with radios and dynamotors, and bristling with antennae. He would park the Jeep over the top of a first order survey marker out on a then-uninhabited spit of land near the ocean, and power up the radios. Another engineer on board a ship, moored a known distance from a survey marker at the shipyard, would then use its (newly-refined) radar to “find” and pinpoint the location of the Jeep.

It was all quite magical to me, and I loved the time we spent there with that workhorse Jeep.

Always the road trips that are most memorable for me, honestly. I just got my JT to use as a better road tripper than the TJ, haven't done any long trips yet.

But cruising the beaches of the Outer Banks in the TJ, or cruising around Key West with the door and top off... those are the best. Using the TJ as a road trip mobile with 35s at the time and a 4" lift... that had a special charm to it as well. Not being the best vehicle for the job made it the perfect choice at the time.

I'm older now lol
