I usually always Remote Start and let it run about ten minutes. I like the cabin to be as comfortable as possible when I get in.

Not suggesting it's not possible, just that that's the tendency, and things have to be right for a lean cold idle.
That's science...........

I wonder of their idea is to warm up the converters faster with a lean mixture.

When he tuned my Colorado he went into the binary of the OS and deleted the run lean program out. only reason I know about it.

Absolutely, the cats and the O2 sensors........the intent is efficiency. Emissions over longevity, screw the consumer to play tummy sticks with the EPA

Just because the gauge says it is normal does not mean it is up to operating temp. I installed an LS3 in a JK a few years ago and wanted to know exactly what the temp, oil pressure, trans temp, etc were. Got an AeroForce gauge and was very happy with it. Link: AeroForce Technology, Inc Interceptor Gauges and Pods – AeroForce Technology, Inc.
The temp gauge in the JL and JT represent cold or normal or hot temps but not precise temps. But I agree with you regarding how fast you get heat in the cab on a cold morning. But don't interpet that warm air as normal operating temp in the engine. Try the AeroForce set up and you will see exact readings and then you can decide for yourself what temp is warm enough to start driving on a cold morning. Good luck to you.
An OBD II bluetooth reader and the Torque app can get temp readings in various places. IIRC, they are very precise, as in to the decimal.

Yes, that is correct. I knew that the newer Jeeps had the ap to show all critical gauges on the screen as well but if you are using your navigation it is a pain to keep switching back and forth in aps. There are various methods of getting accurate readings on engine and trans conditions but I really like the programable AeroForce gauges for accurate real time conditions that does not require switching back and forth in aps. When I was younger, I loved to fly bug smashers and constant monitoring of instrument gauges was vital. Then same is true of JL's and JT's or any vehicle one drives. This is especially true while towing.

I look at the actual engine info pages - which has voltage, oil pressure, oil temperature, transmission temperature - and gasp - the coolant temperature reading.
It's pretty close on mine, and the ESS is another indicator - it won't work if the coolant temp is below a certain temperature. I'd have to look at my T/F list of things for that.
Yes, that thing on the left side of the cluster is a basic indicator only - go/no go and so on. But it's pretty close when it's up to the middle.

And put the HVAC on auto, it really is pretty smart about "can't heat you because we don't have enough heat energy from the engine yet" - but my wife will crank the temperature up and the fan speed believing she'll warm up faster. Nope, sorry - and I poke it right back to auto mode.
Agreed but you can't watch the actual engine gauge ap if using the navigation system very easily. My wife does the same thing with her car, she just turns up the fan or turns the temp setting to the hottest setting. Good grief! Guess that's why they keep us around :))

Nav on the radio screen, temp and other things in the cluster (although to watch several, you need to use the left/right steering wheel buttons to move between engine and trans temperatures and so on.)

......Or I use google maps on the phone, which is always more accurate than the nav in the Jeep.
Wish they did like my older cars - gauges right there for everything.

Ever get the feeling that keeping it simple never crosses the designers mind? If things don't change for the better at Jeep, this JT will be my last vehicle from them. Besides poor management, Jeep is following other brands into the dustbin due to federal regulations. I hope for Jeeps sake they can figure out how to save it but I have no confidence they will.

Yeah, it does baffle me why a vehicle they tout as best in class towing, good payloads, and incredible off-road capabilities doesn't give you full instrumentation and instead hides it or acts like we should pay more for it.
Heck, in 1970, I had gauges for engine temp, oil pressure and voltage right there handy.

60k miles on a 2020 Rubicon I've owned since July 2019. The heater heats up within a 1/4 mile on mild days. As the temp drops, it takes a little longer, but still very fast, IMO.
