So for those doing this, I would recommend making a weekend out of it. If you are following the break in recommendations, it helps to break it up rather than hopping on the interstate and rushing home. Come in that morning, pick up your truck, and drive to Nashville or Memphis, and spend the night there and have dinner and such. Next night stay in Hot Springs, AK and see that and do dinner. Next morning do the Hot Springs off road park, which has some badge of honor trails, and then drive home. We did Snake, which felt scary in a new vehicle for a new off-roader.

Nice fodder. Thinking of doing SNORR! Not sure that will happen though. I agree, my wife and I are making a trip of it.

Howdy Fellow Jeepsters  ,
Apologies for checking in so late. Well it is official.... I have my Jeep:LOL:. So building on the collective wisdom & experiences here, I will do my best to add my 2 cents:fingerscrossed:

To begin.... Gupton is exactly what everyone says. Like most everyone else, you grow to be skeptical of anything when you hear something to be too good to be true... 5% off Dealer Invoice & another additional 1% for TL Membership & 1% for In-House Financing. So I wasted time confirming prices with Daniel & continuing to be skeptical & guarded. Time would have been better spent planning my trip back:facepalm:

Flew in to Nashville on 02/26 SAT at 9:20 am (flew out of Hobby). Due to the nature of the business model at Gupton I got about 1 weeks notice, if I planned it out better (without being so excited & freaked out)maybe I could have gotten 2.... meaning I did not get good pricing on airfare or hotel fare. About 187 on Southwest one-way & 180 in hotel at La Quinta in Hot Springs. So I used a website called meet you halfway. It calculates the exact halfway point (mine came out to Hot Springs). Bad choice as it is a touristy area and you definitely don't get what you pay for.

At the Airport Maynor picked us up in the new Wagoneer. We waited about 5 minutes for the second team flying in from Houston (there were actually three couples from Houston that morning!) The drive takes about 45 minutes from the AP to Gupton. Waiting for us was our respective Gladiators all clean & lined up in front with full tanks of gas. Renee greeted us with a huge smile (she was finishing up with the first Houston Customer). Renee is great with incredible green eyes:giggle: & goes through all the U Connect Registration. The other couple that came in with us allowed us to go before them.... but I was a bonehead trying to install the Mopar Hood Deflector on (which I couldn't.... Jeep's Hood is too tall & it was too cold.... the plastics). Also, I went back and forth on the finance app trying to get my wife's name on the papers (when Renee confirms they have your Gladiator at Gupton) that is when you want to finalize the financials, not after you get there! For this reason we ended up leaving Gupton around 2pm. The weather called for rain turning to flurries by nightfall.... On the way out of Tennessee there was a traffic jam on I-40 due to construction(I was really glad I did not get the manual). I have a habit of putting my lights on auto, while sitting in traffic, all the interior lights went dark! Took me about 10 minutes to realize that it was the interior light settings at dark. This is also when I thought to myself should have studied online manuals on Gladiator usage instead of shopping online! FYI, there are quite a bit of potholes on the freeway even in TN & AR due to snow etc... and so many semi trucks... (I hear one particularly loud know from a pebble on the windshield (I was glad I opted for the Gorilla Glass)we were averaging 70~75 MPH. I hit top speed of up to 90:whew: To get away from some trucks that were throwing up so much gravel it felt like sandpaper on my own skin! :crying:The ride was very nice, steering not bad, and not as loud as I thought it would be (I did not opt for the factory headliners). Then we hit Arkansas and the rain began..... (I wish I had brought some Rain X) It was raining buckets & I closely monitored the temperature & it hit 32 then 31 and then 30 but luckily no snow, although it was accumulating in some areas.... I ordered the selec trac option but could not remember if I could engage on the fly, I ended up pulling over & engaging it(again, I wished I spent more time learning Vs. Shopping:headbang:). Ended up getting to the hotel at 10:30 (from my original plan of 5pm:facepalm:). Couple of things.... Try not to drive at night through Tennessee or Arkansas. One thing I noticed was the amount of downed trees, it seems the tree line is much closer to the roads than Texas. Although they have been cleared away, they come mighty close to the road .... they have a tendency to pop out at night. Also on one stretch of road under construction with NO shoulder, a spare wheel jumped out at me (it was stationary) even with the LED lighting group (glad I got them... very bright good sharp cutoff the highs do not seem as bright and wish the fogs were amber for better contrast).

The Hotel stay as mentioned was terrible, the lows at night was 26, had the heater on which was so loud that it kept me up. Not being able to sleep the night before my flight & then again really made my cold worse :whew:(which is the reason it took me so long to report back to you guys).

When I checked out of the hotel and went to my Jeep, I noticed the unmistakeable signs of white spots ALL over the Jeep.... I managed to give my Brand New Gladiator a very thorough salt wash on the highways of Arkansas :angry:The next day was sunny & gorgeous and again the ride was great!!!!!

From Gupton back home to Sugar Land I had to fill up 3 times at about 3.20 a gallon (60~70 each time). No there were no Buckees along the way:angry: No I don't know what my MPG was (I didn't read the manual, remember?)

Based on your previous recommendation, I wanted to get my first badge at Snake, but it had rained so much the night before..... I am not very confident with the mud!:whew:

For anyone in the austin area, I have ordered my last 2 jeeps from Covert Jeep, and both have been great experiences. FYI before you go all the way to Tennesee, might want to give them a try.
Do you have someone you'd recommend I talk to at Covert? We went in a few weeks ago to test drive and are now ready to purchase. The rep we test drove with was non-responsive this week when i reached out to him. I wouldn't mind keeping it local if they can meet me close to what Gupton can get to. I'm ready to order in the next day or so.

This is the same thing that happened to me with Nyle Maxwell. Test drove, got a sales reps card, called and no response. Called the internet sales person that kept emailing and nothing, just crickets.

No one Texas is doing 7% below invoice. That is what I paid for my 22 with Gupton. You'll be lucky to get invoice or 1% below and even then few dealers are willing to do that. Even with travel expenses was cheaper to buy from Gupton.

We dealt with Mike Kozlowski, and had an affliate #. Don't think you will get gumpton pricing but it will save you the trip and Coverts service has been great.

Actually not 7% but 1% plus 1%.... Its is not so much about the money, I spent about 1K on travel, hotel, and gas etc.... This was the first time I left a dealership in a new car HAPPY:LOL:. Didn't have second thoughts of; "could I have gotten more discount", "did I pay too much?". Pricing was transparent, I got exactly what I ordered, replies are/is prompt, hospitality and service was first class with a smile! This is the first time I would even leave or put the dealer's logo on my car :like: Like others have said, make a trip of it... not to save money but just to experience. I put 900 miles on my new Mojave in 2 days. In that time I was very pleased with myself over all the options I chose as I got good use out of them. Pleasantly surprised by the driving dynamics & made mental list of things I wanted to add.

If I could do it all over again? YES! In a heartbeat:clap:

Two questions for y'all.

1. What is the procedure for getting your truck registered, any taxes paid, etc etc once you got back home?
2. For anyone who financed through Gupton recently, what kind of interest rate did you get? Hopefully mine shows up before the fed prices me out of it. ;)
