Texas Trail Edition opinions

Any opinion on the Texas Trail edition. I’m thinking about trading my Rubicon for one. I really need to go back to a white vehicle because of the sun beating down. My ranch road is a ”trail” nasty enough but I really don’t need the Rubicon features.

It’s a good looking truck. I’ve seen a couple out here in Cali and they always catch my eye. Not sure about the specs on em though. The thing about the Rubicon gear is you don’t need it, until you do. Like a few of the tool attachments on a Swiss Army knife. Ya wonder why they even put em on there and then That one time makes it useful to have.

I have a ‘21 Texas Trail Gladiator. Ive never missed a single Rubi feature. For context, i genuinely use the 4H about twice a week. I live near deep sand in an area where if you get stuck there might not be anyone coming to get you. That said, I also have enough gray hair to know when to drive around stuff and not try to go over it. The Texas Trail has all the essentials. If you know when to air down, carry some recovery boards and a shovel just in case and spend time in driving skill rather that bolting on new doodads, you’ll do great.

I would have bought one but got hung up on the Nacho color. My understanding is that the Texas Edition comes with the Max Tow package.

I think my bigger concern would be eating the depreciation of a 2025 Rubicon just to get a white model with less features. Have you thought about a wrap? Or if the heat is a problem, maybe make your own white cap edition and paint your top white?

Personally love the Texas Trail Edition. I think it is most comparable to the Wrangler Sahara trim package. I really wanted the leather seats (which was my main reason for going for that trim). However, I would try to find one with the max tow package if you plan to go up in tire size. The only option I really wish it came with was the sway bar quick disconnect, but if you don't use it then the Texas Trail is a great option.

Kept my JTR for the lockers and haven't used them twice a year. On caliche and sand the 4.10s and decent tires do the real work.

This seems like the place
to repeat my idea for a ranch truck.

One place I had to work
I had to open and close 6 or 7 gates
to get in and around the property.
That is what inspired this idea
for one more button on a key fob.

Drive up to the gate in 4L,
put it in Off Road Plus
and press the "Remote Control" button
to lock the ABS brakes.

Leave it in gear and get out of the truck.
Open the gate.
Push the RC button to let the truck
crawl through the opening.
Push the RC button to stop.
Close the gate.

Get back in the truck
and turn off Off Road Plus.
Drive as usual to the next gate.
Repeat.

You only have to get out and in once
instead of twice for every gate.

Also very helpful if the cattle
are crowding the gate
to try and move to a new pasture
before you want them to,
though you may also need
a stick or rattle paddle to back them off.
My Rat Terrier Spunky was great for that.

It could also be used to feed solo.
Get in the back of the truck
and use the RC button to crawl
and put out cubes or hay.

If you have ever been on foot
in the middle of a pasture
trying to put out cubes for 50 heifers
you know what I mean.

I really miss Spunky.
If I needed to cut out a cow from the herd
all I had to do
was tell her the ear tag number.

Super Pup and I got chased by a pretty mad bull yesterday. Both Spunky and that RC function would have been very helpful.

Nothing is perfect, those shiny fenders and roof are gonna take a beating from cedar trees and look nasty going to and from the ranch.

The only reason I even got the Rubicon was because for some reason they wanted to sell a Jeep that day and it was 41K after taxes.

I always found that most average folk have never exercised their potential with lesser equipment. The plus with the Texas Edition would be less stuff to break.

Most likely after a long day of negotiations could be in this for 39K$ or so

It’ll stick. They’ll run a scratch pad over it first then lay the coat down. It’s just fiberglass so not real difficult to apply paint to. I rattle canned many a bumper cover during my ricey days from redoing fiberglass road damage. I think I’d personally go with tan but to each their own. It’s a nice looking truck! Not a bad price for a brand new machine either.
