Textured Black Hardtop OR Painted Hardtop

I rented a JKUR with a paint-matched hardtop once and I still cringe when I think about how trashed the panels were. I contributed to their demise, but wow did it convince me the textured top is the way to go.

Is the paint finish "softer" on the hardtop then the rest of the painted body???

Oh IDK, good question. I mean the 'substrate' is different so maybe it's more prone to damage for that reason alone.

All black textured is said to give an advantage offroad, allowing for greater articulation over obstacles. Its also worth an mpg or two over painted tops because of the specific gravity of the coatings.

I actually have a black textured top I would trade for a stingray top though. My loss, your gain
